We had a pleasurable experience here for coffee. Everyone remained distant in their seating after getting their food or beverage. The staff was friendly, not highly interactive or engaged, but friendly. I had a latte that was ready in a timely manner and was delicious. This is a great place to meet up for a working meeting.Food: 5/5
The cold brew coffee tastes burnt and they are still requiring you to wear masks, which at this point, is an overstep in my opinion. The world is moving on from COVID and this coffee shop is stuck in the past. Wouldn’t recommend
Adorable little coffee shop! Loved the seasonal flavors, my friend had pumpkin spice and I tried the maple cinnamon and both were delicious. The baristas were so friendly and nice and helpful.Food: 5/5
I went on a quest last year to find the best oat milk lavender latte in Durham, and I'm proud to crown Joe Van Gogh the winner! I absolutely love this place, and it's a great stop for breakfast, lunch, or an afternoon pick-me-up. The London Fog scone is also to die for, and I try to get there as early as possible in the day to be sure I'm one of the lucky few to snag one. Parking can be a bit of a challenge considering how many other businesses are in this mall, but nothing too terrible. I look forward to returning very very often!
Customer service is really poor here. As a Durham native, I was surprised at how the employees showed little desire to make an effort to show basic courtesy to their customers. The main barista in particular. She made my drink while I was waiting next to the bar. I saw her put a couple cups out and saw an abbreviation that looked like my drink. I asked if it was my drink and she hardly acknowledged yes. Not sure what is going on with the attitudes here but it was not pleasant. My husband had gone in before me and ordered an 8 oz pour over that he recalled was $4.50 on the menu, but the guy at the register charged him for $7.45. $7.45 for 8 oz pour over? My husband’s not from the States so we felt he was taken advantage of. The pour over was also not good - there were two inches left from the top of the 8 oz cup. He was not asked if he wanted space for cream. Absolutely do not recommend this place.
Good coffee and great baked goods. If you order online it is always ready on time. Almond macaroon cookies are the best cookies maybe ever.Food: 4/5
Coffee is amazing, love this brand, best in the triangle for roast coffee hands down - in store, careful if you have any allergies, team is not knowledgeable and pretends like they know - either double check packaging or don't order here. Regarding the post below - The problem isn't that they don't have access to the nutritional information, the problem is that they will tell you something is gluten free when it clearly does not state that. And what's worse, they won't let you check the label yourself. It's really a training problem, and that's on you, not your team, bc they're kids and they don't know any better.
This particular Joe Van Gogh is very well spaced out, with plenty of seating, a fast pickup counter, outdoor tables both uncovered and covered, and ample space for quiet work to be accomplished. The breakfast pastries are fresh and delicious, and I highly recommend a Latte with their homemade Sea Salt Caramel syrup! Delicious!!
My first time visiting this quaint and cozy place. I was so excited to get the almond butter toast that I forgot to take a picture. The presentation was beautiful. The toast was topped with a delicious almond butter, fresh blueberries, fresh strawberries, and lemon zest. Garnished with a swirled orange slice on the side. Customer service was outstanding, everyone greeted you with a smile and was very helpful. If you're ever in the mood for some delicious coffee or a fresh baked pastry, biscuit, or muffin, give this place a try.
Great specialty coffee spot. Helpful and friendly staff. They are pulling shots on a Slayer. I had a cortado, it was fantastic. The food options are incredible too, and they make you feel good. I had a sweet potato scramble it looked so good I forgot to take the picture first. I did not buy a pastry but tried the sample and it was great! Definitely recommend coming here.
