This is the second time I have come here. The food is between good and really good. I am saying that because it in any way bad. But because I like Mediterranean food to be heavier on the seasoning, and this was seasoned more for the American pallet, which I am not. So, that said, the place is a sitdown fast food style, except that the food is super healthy and delicious. I gave the service only 4 stars because the waitresses did not smile, and even though she was very kind and polite, she was dry and looked scared. The Arabic music was very pleasant, Oasis, Scheheresadee 1001 night, Aladdin and Jasmin type, and the price was right too. Love the place and strongly recommend it to travelers from and to Portland Airport. It's only 10 or 13 min from there, and it's a great substitute for ground hoofs on two buns accompanied by soggy fries. I am a person who loves food and I eat a lot, so I order two. Even that only cost me just over $20. Good eats for the right price in a pleasant environment. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Vegetarian options: All of the above are available. Mediterranean food by virtue is considered the best diet overall. High protein, low carbs, good and healthy selections. Kid-friendliness: All kids here were very friendly...haha. Wheelchair accessibility: Thank God I don't need that! Dietary restrictions: Good for diabetics.
Wow! Today my husband and I ate here for the first time We were so impressed with the quality and flavors of the entrees! The pita bread, hummus, baba ghanoush, salad plate... chicken, rice and the mint tea, coupled with the very friendly service, pleasant atmosphere, and reasonable prices provided us with a great dining experience! We even bought extra hummus and pita to go! Definitely on my repeat list!
Super disappointed as well. Not at all impressed and I am sad about it. Tried twice and both times disappointed and they have so much potential. The dishes/entree are just not impressive for the cost, and basically very low key and nothing to write home about. Kabobs are just... meh. Small-ish, and rice lacking any flavors except mildly yellow, and comes with a few bites of greens and 1 spoonful of cheese served in a small plastic cup. After two earnest tries despite they are friendly and have great intentions... it's just not worth the time and money. It's really sad. I really want this restaurant to thrive... but it will be quite unlikely.
I am super disappointed. I have been going to Jerusalem Cafe on and off since 2008. I recently placed an online order and had it delivered. This is what I recieved for about $27. The food was too salty and there were no sides, such as the hummus, potato salads and other clean tasty cabbage salads that used to come with a meal. I'm not sure if ownership has changed or if they are just cutting corners but I won't be ordering from here again.
My husband, roommate and I literally love this place! We used to get food here every other month but recently we've been getting it delivered often. The samosas are a household favorite here and I personally love the sharwarma ! So yummy
We enjoyed the hummus, samosas and garlic chicken. The portions were generous and the server pleasant and attentive. The rice was a little dry and I would have liked it with more salt. My husband and I split the dinner and we both had food leftover.
I haven't had too much Mediterranean food in my life, but I've heard great things about Jerusalem Café and really wanted to give it a try with my mother. The restaurant setting was very casual, but with a calm and underwhelming atmosphere. The woman who served us was super sweet and got us our food surprisingly quickly. I found the pita bread to be addictive, cooked perfectly. The lentil soup wasn't my favorite, but I'm generally not a big fan of lentils and that is the reason why. I would still recommend trying it. I had the garlic chicken and really liked it. Full of flavor, and I loved the large amount of parsley garnishing it. I also found the side of rice to be delicious. I got a couple of baklavas for dessert and they were very satisfying.
4 1/2 stars. I stopped in for lunch on a weekday and ordered a few vegetarian appetizers - the Labeneh, Grape Leaves dolmas, and Samosa. Portions are good size so I had leftovers from all for dinner, and service was quick and friendly. The Samosa filling was very good and had just a bit of a spice kick. The Grape Leaves are served warm, which is unusual for restaurants, I find, and were also very good as cold leftovers. I really enjoyed the Lebeneh as well - great for dipping the samosas and dolmas as I preferred it to their dipping sauce. I was disappointed with the pita bread, though, which was very dry and had little flavor or texture. This a good stop for vegetarian fare. I would definitely eat here again and hope for better pita. Vegetarian options: Good Middle Eastern style vegetarian options. Parking: Located in a strip mall but with enough room for easy parking at lunch.
Everything on the menu looked fire, tried the Chicken On Fire and was happy and then I tried the hummus and was in heaven.
A little late on take the foto of my full meal, staff is friendly. Food is great!Recommended dishesChicken on Fire, Lentil Soup, Gyro Sandwich, Mediterranean Salad
