We had an amazing night from start to finish. On the night we went, the street was blocked off and there was a small festival with a few food trucks and several vendors out front8pm. It was warm and foggy out which only lent to the calm cool mysterious atmosphere. Walking in we were greeted at the door and escorted to our group. We were there to celebrate the anniversary of my mother gaining her wings. The decor was festive. It had the feel of the Renaissance, New York/ New Orleans. The drinks were amazing! I had a NinaSimone Delicious!! And a Strong Island Ice Tea. I ordered the Magnolia. It came with blackened creole shrimp, sweet plantains, cauliflower rice, turkey collard greens, and sweet honey cornbread. It was spicy!!!! The good burn. Absolutely delicious. Never had cauliflower rice that had so much flavor. My cousin had the sexychicken tenders. Pricing was fair. The live band set the mood perfectly. We got a little Anita Baker, some Stevie Wonder , and many more. They were the bomb!! Mixed and multicultural, eclectic crowd. Everyone in the place was enjoying the night. We will definitely be back...Several more times!! I highly recommend to anyone considering going.
Great black owned restaurant in New Haven. There are djs on certain evenings and it’s my understanding there is live music sometimes. The restaurant was clean and is pretty spacious. You’ll want to have reservations if you’re a party of 3+. The weekends are pretty packed. The bar is also cool to sit at as the bartenders are very attentive. The food was delicious. I’ve tried the jerk chicken, mac n cheese, mashed yams m, greens and honey corn bread. Portions are more than enough and everything was well seasoned and cooked well. Cocktails were good as well. I tried three, can’t recall the names, but I do recall the Dorothy Dandrige was tasty. The new bar manager was personable and ensured my friend and I enjoyed our food and experience as did the bartenders. Overall, this place is great and I’m so happy we have such a mature spot in new haven that has great music, food and drinks. Look Forward to eating there again.
I absolutely love the staff. Upbeat, friendly and made me feel welcomed. The atmosphere was so inviting. I drove from Philly after seeing an advertisement on FB. I missed the brunch but they accommodated me and my daughter. The food was fresh and seasoned beautifully Kudos to the Chef. They kept my endless mimosas coming. And they were perfect thank you bartender. The entertainment was rocking and everyone was vibing. Did I mention, I loved the staff. Morgan, Hailey, Leon, and my waiter Jason my apologies if I misspelled anyones name. Thank you guys for making my 5 hour drive thanks to traffic worth it. I will be back.
I’ve heard alot good things about Jazzy’s over the last year. CT doesn’t offer alot of black establishments with live music, so Jazzy’s is a breath of fresh air. I love that it’s nestled right downtown. I visited on a Sunday so it wasn’t very busy and no reservations were needed. They didn’t have live music but the r&b playlist was on point. It’s a big establishment with tons of seating. The food was good, every thing was well prepared. I didn’t feel very sluggish or tired afterwards. I wasn’t a fan of the Mac and cheese or the beer selection though. The Mac was a little dry and the tap was broken for the draft beers. Overall, it’s definitely worth checking out for the good vibes.
Food was delicious, I had the Magnolia and my husband had the OutKast. Drinks were also very good we recommend the Rum Punch and the Calloway, yum. Nice atmosphere, definitely will return for another date night! Park across the street in paid parking lot for $3.
It was my first time being at this well decorated establishment. Well actually the first time I came I was turned away. I came to hear live music both times. I was very excited upon arriving. That was short lived, my choice of drink they did not have. I was told to scan the QR code for the menu selections. Again what I wanted was not available. While scanning the menu it changed right before my eyes never seen that before. Since the options were limited I ordered parmesean fries, it took almost an hour and when they came they were not what I ordered. The bartender that was there was expected to hold down the entire bar, never seen that before on a busy night. It was complete anarchy in there. In my humble opinion the owner should make sure he is stocked with the food choices, as well as the bar choices. The last straw was when I was told I was going to have to get up from the bar, because the bar stools were going to be removed. Definitely not a good first impression, not sure I will revisit after this horrible experience. One last thing make sure there is toilet paper and paper towels in the rest room. Big ups to the one bartender I believe her name is Stacy, she did the best she could and should get a raise!!!
Great atmosphere and the bar tender Niko was amazing! The food is great as well. I gave 4 stars because our waiter disappeared and no one was tending to our needs. She actually sat at a table next to us eating and drinking which we thought was odd, but didn’t let it ruin our experience.
I Purchased the groupon for this establishment. I came here a few times during the summer 2022. Since then, the prices have jumped up $5-8 per meal. There was also complimentary cornbread. That's no longer offered, it's now almost $5 a slice on the menu. quite a few items on the menu were sold out. It's extremely difficult to keep a restaurant business afloat in this economy, so I try to understand the rate increase, but it does not match the quality of food. The ambiance of the restaurant, however, is great. Would return & continue to support a black owned business but would pass on the food and head straight to the bar for drinks only.
Saturday Nights are a VIBE! But it gets BUSY fast!! Food was delicious. I don't like the order by phone setup, esp bc I was in a group of 6 and that type of service gives a "Fast food, order ahead"feeling, not recommended. Scan QR code to send orders directly to kitchen and someone runs out the food when ready We asked the waiter to physically take our orders... for the sake of tipping! Plus... ya know... modifications! I did not want green beans, lol. Overall.... a great experience!! Delicious food AND cocktails! Live band that transitioned to a DJ... moved some tables to create space for dancing and boom! Cupid shuffle! Good times, good times! Parking: Pay by app parking lots across the street. $1 and hr on a Saturday night.
I And My Family Stopped By Based On A Recommendation From A Family Member Who Visited When Jazzy First Opened, I Think More Emphasis Is Surely Geared Towards The "Club Environment/Live Band/Bar Scene" And Not Toward The Food Experience. When Our Food Arrived Unfortunately The Majority Was Cold And For The Price, The Small Portions Are Not Justified. We Had To Wait A While For Eating Utensils After Asking Twice. As A Southerner Who Has Traveled The Deep South Transplant Up North And Visited Many Different Types Of Restaurants In Different States And Different Countries, The Food Was Just Not For Me And My Family... Maybe A Bad Night In The Kitchen Etc ... Although The Server Was Exceptional.
