Beautiful Park! Plenty of parking. Nice hiking trails - though they were a little narrow in spots by the bridge and river. Great photo opportunities. The leaves are just starting to turn (3rd weekend in September) I think in the next week they will be spectacular! I had to laugh when I spotted the out house - as even it has its appeal when tree behind it was so pretty! LOL

Gorgeous! The river scenery is breathtaking; large cascading rapids surrounded by dark teal shales. The trails are easy and well maintained. I passed through here while backpacking on the Superior Hiking Trail and it was by far one of my favorite sections. The day hikes here would be good for older children (7+) but maybe not for little ones or for kids who are afraid of heights.

We went to Jay Cooke state park to see fall colors! And it was a very good choice. The Park has so much to offer. The drive along the park is breathtaking. And the hanging bridge is worth visiting. And the hiking trail through the bridge is beautiful!!

The park is beautiful, but the campground needs a lot of work. Our camper and truck got scratched up really bad because there are so many trees hanging over in the road through the campground. Trim the trees! Also the trails need a lot of work. We got covered in mud doing the summer trail. Some wood planks or something to walk on would be nice. The only think this campground has going for it is the beautiful water and landscape. I won't be camping here again though.

This is one of my favorite state parks for many reasons: the secluded semi-grassy campsites with lots of trees (mix of deciduous and conifer); ample hiking trails of varying abilities; the falls of the St. Louis river; gorgeous fall color; access to the Munger State Trail for biking; access to the Superior Hiking Trail; and is a wonderful jumping off point for Duluth and the rest of the North Shore. It can often be busy for all of these reasons, so reserve early! As with all state parks, some sites are geared toward trailers and some towards tents. Read the site descriptions.
