Polite and sweet women there to greet us and give us a couples massage. Not great english, but who wants to talk while getting massaged ! They made sure we were comfortable and the room temperature was nice. I like a deeper massage, but it was good.
I was hesitant to come here after reading these reviews but my boyfriend and I had an overall pleasant experience! It took three attempts to book an appointment...seems like their phone is busy or directed to voicemail. Nonetheless, the reception called me back and we were able to book a couple massage for the next day. When we arrived to the spa, the reception/masseuse was prompt in getting us started. We had a 10 min food soak followed by an 1.20 min massage. They asked us how the temperature in the room before starting. The decor isn't 5 star, but honestly for what its worth we received a pretty relaxing massage. The women did poke my shoulder and it felt slightly uncomfortable besides that it was a deep relaxing massage. There is a $7 tax fee that wasn't disclosed though. Hope that helps!
I purchased a Groupon for a 90 mins couples massage, and managed to make an appointment rather quickly. It turned out that my husband was unavailable that day so I attempted to reschedule. Despite the calls and emails made by me over a two week period, no one ever returned my call or email. We ended up "missing" our appointment and they redeemed my voucher.
I'm never coming back. We went in for the couple's massage and fit us in despite a communication error on my part, so that was accommodating. The massage was relaxing, although I don't have much experience receiving massages. Overall, the people were nice and the experience was pleasant. I would try their other services as well. Despite that positive experience, my second groupon was redeemed without my knowledge or consent because I had missed an appointment due to a personal emergency. The staff were nice, but the manager claimed that I must pay an additional $65 on top of my groupon credit in order to access the service I had booked AFTER I made my complaint, because originally it would have been a $85 penalty! The service costs $139 but my groupon credit what I had paid for out of pocket, not the promotion value costs me $129. I was being asked to pay $194 for a service that's supposed to be $139!!!
I purchased a couples massage package with foot scrub on groupon for my girlfriends birthday and proceeded to have the worst experience ever. This is actually the first review I have ever written but I felt compelled to do so because I felt like I need to save other people from such a disaster. Please save your money and the headache and hassle and pain and find a better place to go to. I understand that this place lists a couples massage for what appears to be a decent rate on groupon but it honestly would not be worth it if it was free. This place makes it so difficult to arrange an appointment. It's as if they don't want you to come in at all. They list themselves to be open 12 hours a day and yet you get only a very few specific and odd times to come in "take it or leave it" and that to way down the road. That is of course if they answer their phone. The idea of a massage is to be relaxed and the headache early on in booking already makes your stressed. Anyhow, once you get an appointment here is what may transpire: You will find yourself in a run down and tiny hole in the wall. You will met by a lady at the front reception who will ask you to go to the bathroom and will have some forced chit chat and this process will take 10-15 minutes. This will seem okay to you at the time but then you later find out your clock has started ticking the moment you came and so this is included in your massage time. Later we found out that there was also no foot soak and scrub offered which was supposed to be part of the package. Then the lady led us into a tiny room that could barely fit two beds. The beds had mismatched and worn out sheets on them that were not exactly the cleanest looking or the most comfortable. The lady followed us into the room and asked us to change. We had barely started to change and then she kept knocking that are we finished yet and was hurrying us to begin. And to my surprise it turned out that the reception lady itself was also going to be my masseuse. The massage finished much earlier than expected. At which point the masseuses proceeded to rub lotion for 20 minutes to complete the remaining time which still was several minutes short. Which to be honest was not even the worst thing because the massage was so rough and uneven and the room was freezing and it is still towards the end of winter here in Vancouver. I highly question whether these masseuses are trained at all because there is very little technique to the massage. They literally put no pressure into it for the most part and then at times put excessive force. They also seemed to put pressure onto certain joints and bones that I have not received before. It actually hurts quite a lot at times. Both my girlfriend and I experience painful pressure being put onto our shoulder joints and even worse our temples that we have never experienced before. My girlfriend read and later told me that the way they put pressure onto our temples is completely not supposed to happen and can actually be quite detrimental. My girlfriend requested her masseuse not to pull out her hair but she repeated it a second time before finally stopping. And her hair could be seen on the bed after which really gave her a bad taste. I had a towel covering my eyes that the masseuse put pressure over and it felt like it was choking me. I pushed it away and asked for it not to be put back again. But the masseuse continued to put pressure on it and choked me again. My girlfriend said that she felt choked in a similar way. I was also forced to pay a $7 fee. I was told that it was stated on groupon. I later found that fee was not required and of course no receipt was provided. After the massage both of us have experienced neck pain and soreness and my girlfriend had a distinct headache too. We both have left this experience mentally and physically wary and are extremely disappointed. This was supposed to be a birthday surprise for my girlfriend but turned out to be a very expensive nightmare.
GROUPON BEWARE. We bought a 90 minutes couple massage for J Spa in August. First off we won't be using the voucher, I have called about 10 times to make an appointment. Either I don't get through, and an automated voice says call back. Or I have someone answer with a "hello", and then they hangup. I finally got through and have been told that they are to busy for " Groupon massage" and to wait and they'll call me back when they have availability. We are calling Groupon today to get a reimbursement on this voucher. Ridiculous service. I can't even imagine what the actual massage would be like.
I booked my girlfriend a 90 minute massage package for today Feb 9th. We showed up 15 minutes early to a fairly bizarre entrance into a spa with a funny buzzer and no receptionist. When she showed up she looked confused and only opened the door a crack asking if she could help us. Once we convinced her to let us in she looked for our appointment but found nothing. I had the entire day planned out as an early valentine's day. Thanks for nothing J Spa.
Went there for a couples massage bought off of groupon. Atmosphere was not like a typical spa, not very relaxing. The massage was very nice, we both enjoyed it. However after it was done we went to tip, and the lady said groupon doesn't charge the taxes and said we needed to pay her more money. I said that groupon includes all taxes and she told me to prove it. We didn't want a commotion so we just paid the money. Afterwards I emailed groupon to ask them about this, to get a response that the taxes are definitely included, the lady just wanted more money. I would never go back.
Pretty terrible experience. I'm trying to find the positives from it. We went for a 90mins couples Groupon massage, it was about 60mins long. The person who massaged me wore high wedge shoes during the massage which made a lot of noise on the wooden floor, but that's ok as it was mostly drowned out by the road noise. The room was freezing with air con, my wife said she was cold and they told her the heating was on. The "sheets" they werent your usual massage parlour sheets but more of a fluffy throw you pub on a couch on the massage table were damp when we got into it, I think the kind of dirty damp when they haven't been changed for quite a number of massages. My wife thought he massage was not too bad, the woman who massaged me did not know what she was doing and simply rubbed oil into me for 60mins. Don't get me wrong this is better than no massage, but just slightly. We felt pretty robbed having paid so much for such little service. The women were friendly enough if you look on the brightside.
The worst ''massage'' I have ever received. Place was very cold, they do not massage you, instead they rub you with an excessive amount of oil and wet towels. They are definitely NOT qualified masseuses if the experience was all they had to offer. It was a waste of 90 minutes. My partner told the 'masseuse' her foot ached and she said 'okay. we'll just avoid it then'' ??? isn't it they're job to massage out the kinks?!
