Recently went to Ironstone Grill for breakfast with my two kids. We were pleasantly surprised with the service and food at a great price. In fact, pretty much everything on the menu was under $10 which is an amazing price for breakfast. The portion sizes were very good. There were plenty of food on the plate for my boys to feel full at the end of the meal. All three of us were quite satisfied with our meal. Will definitely be going back.
First time eating here, went for a Valentine's dinner. $260 for 2 without drinks gets 4 courses: 1 - small charcuterie board that was thrown together and presented like you were making yourself a lazy 5 minute snack. 2 - over peppery mushroom soup which was also too oily and was separating or a big plate of old wilted arugula. 3 - the smallest and fattiest ossu buco you've seen in your life maybe 3 bites of meat served with undercooked rice and carrots the only good thing from the whole meal or cheese stuffed uncooked pasta so uncooked it was inedible. 4 - a decent creme brule or a chocolate dessert that was so sweet a chocolate lover couldn't finish half of it. Took over 2 hours to serve the entire meal of basically 1 cooked course about an 1h15m wait between course 2 and 3 itself. Pair that all with the restaurant ambience and charm that was about the same as a ski resort cafeteria and you have yourself a place you wish you never went to and certainly won't return to.
So called fancy golf course. I decided to be safe and thought you couldn’t go wrong with a club sandwich. Boy was I wrong. Bread was so stale it cut your upper palate. Not sure how they made the chicken so flavourless…but I guess that part was impressive. Save yourself the trouble and go to Burger King up the street
The portion sizes were very good. There were plenty of food on the plate for my boys to feel full at the end of the meal. All three of us were quite satisfied with our meal. Will definitely be going back. We waited 10 plus minutes at the hostess stand. Service was a little slow when we were seated but not to bad. The food was pretty good.
This is a great place to go for large groups! Do be aware that they will bring out your food as it is made rather than for the entire table at once unless you specify otherwise though, in case that is your preference. General 5/5: Atmosphere is fantastic and the restaurant hall is very very spacious. Decor is nice and is a quick commute from most of the Kanata high tech sector. Service 6/5 haha!: Servers are all very friendly and pleasant. The service is usually quite quick, even for large groups. The only time I felt that it was a bit slow was when I saw 4 large groups arrive at the same time. One person at our table of 10 had to wait 45 minutes for their food, but drinks were served early and the server gave our ENTIRE TABLE half off because of the long wait before we even had a chance to complain. Food 4/5: Food is good though not extraordinary
The dishes were really salty, and I had to drink lots of water. The waitress was nice so I give this one more star. I asked my steak to be well done, with no pink. I got a steak with pinkness in the middle. I sent it back and it just came back more burnt on the outside and the pinkness inside was still the same. Wanted to give it back to be cooked again but then decided not to as I didn't want my steak to be a burnt, non edible mess. Almost everything was really salty. Would not recommend for people who dislike saltiness, and the burger was not good.
Being my third work Christmas party at Marshes, I expected the venue to be overall as favourable as my previous experiences. Unfortunately it came up short this year. Entering into the restaurant, we are greeted by the nice ambiance as expected. To start out the evening, a Caesar seemed liked a good idea - but ended up being extremely watered down, tasteless, and served in a beer glass. After giving up halfway and switching to a beer that wasn't filled to the top, we were seated for dinner. The chicken was very dry and certainly a step down from the dinner of both previous years. Furthermore, my girlfriend was vegan and the staff came out and told her that they have no soup for her and she would have to wait until the next course. Couldn't you boil a tomato and call it vegan soup or something, really? It was noted well in advance. The desert was boring and tasteless, and somehow the soup actually quite good and caesar salad three leaves of lettuce on a plate took the prize for best courses. Moving on, throughout the whole evening the bartender was quite disconnected from the customers, not seeming to make any eye contact or even crack a smile. He seemed flustered the whole time and merely threw change on to the bar as he ran around looking lost and as if he could use another half dozen bartenders to help him. Overall, the service was lousy and the food was OK at best. Quite the step down from my previous two years. Two four-star experiences and one two-star experience makes me give Marshes a three so far. If there was a 2.5 I would have chosen that.
They were definitely overwhelmed. We waited 10 plus minutes at the hostess stand. Service was a little slow when we were seated but not to bad. The food was pretty good.
Visited the Ironstone Grill. The food was fresh and tasty but being gluten free can always pose a challenge. I ordered a gluten free pizza which I suspect wasn't really gluten free since about 2-3 hours later I had a reaction. To be fair, I was warned that some cross-contamination would occur since they use the same ovens for all pizzas. But I normally don't have a reaction with surface contact flour. I suspect it was possible the wrong crust was used. If you are Celiac you may want to reconsider eating elsewhere. #cider
I have been here for lunch a few times with my office. The food is your average boring pub food, you can make anything on the menu at home and it would probably taste better. The wraps are terribly bland and just about everything is extremely overpriced for what you get. I only go here because my office likes to go to lunch there sometimes, otherwise I wouldn't.
