Most of the Indian/Pakistani restaurants claim to serve authentic food, but that claim is most of the time not true. This Pakistani restaurant came close to that claim. The menu is simple and I think that’s what did the trick. Either choose between lamb platter lamb curry, 2 kinds of lentils, pickle, chutney, rice, vegetables or chicken platter everything same as lamb platter, except meat which is chicken. We ordered both and found the food almost authentic and it came almost close to what you will have in a typical Pakistani household. The place got busy very quickly. Curries were tasty and so was rice. vegetables could have been better if freshly sautéed, chutney could also have been a lot better. I requested salted lassi and it was yummy. Naan was not what you would expect as a typical Pakistani naan. Something they could change and make the competition more nervous. Service also could improve. Overall I would say 20 times better than any fancy Indian restaurant. If you are in town, try their food and your heart will be totally satisfied.
Asalam alaikum! My wife and I were visiting from Ottawa this past week and were so excited to see a Pakistani restaurant in St. John's! We had the chicken and lamb curry plates, an order of samosas, a mango lassi, dessert and a chai tea to end the evening and it was all absolutely phenomenal. The flavour, aroma and atmosphere were just so incredible and the service was so very friendly and accommodating. We hope you decide to open a location in Ottawa and we will definitely be back next time we are in St. John's, insha'Allah.
Had the Lamb Curry - SO delicious, and the portion was large enough for two meals!!!
The buffet is on the small side but very tasty and generally well prepared. If you aren't fond of spicy food you will have fewer options. However, if you enjoy Indian food with a kick this will certainly be well received. Simple and affordable is an accurate description.
The food is good, I wouldn't argue with that, but frankly I no longer find it value for the money. Their prices have risen significantly over the past few years. So, while it might have been a good value 3 or 4 years ago, that's no longer the case. Also, the service always seems disorganized. One time, the person serving me was frustrated that customers were still arriving "shortly before closing" 7 pm mind you... Well, people tend to eat their supper between 5:30 pm and 7:30 pm. That should not be a surprise in the restaurant business.
Great honest Pakistani fare outside of the tourist downtown core. It's worth the drive, and is location makes a great lunch stop for those hiking up or down Signal Hill. Take out is available and makes a great early evening meal option. Note that they close quite early so plan ahead for an early dinner if you want to visit for an evening meal. We visited at the end of their day, and even though they were closing and cleaning, we were grateful for their generosity to our group of hungry hikers when they presented us with enough take out from what remained in their kitchen.
I’ve been eating at this restaurant for over 20 years, the menu is always the same chicken, lamb, or veg and the food is always delicious! Vegans can request the veg option without the yogurt. Every plate includes rice, lentils and several small sides. Definitely one of my favourite places to eat!
Cozy Pakistani joint serving up tasty, hot curry with a very stripped-down menu. They only have a couple of options - pick your meat, and choose whether you'd like it in large or small! They also have Naan bread. The curries offered were tasty but I found the flavors a bit lacking on the chickpeas - would have preferred a bit more spice! Overall, I love the feel of the place but for the vegetarian offering I'd recommend they add some additional spice to liven up the flavors.
One of the best restaurants in town with amazing curry dishes. They have chicken, lamb, or chicken with lamb as well as samosas and naan bread. Really great spot. The staff are a bit eccentric, extremely friendly and always pleasant.
Just the best!! Don't look for a menu. Your getting chicken, lamb, out mixed both and what ever curried dishes they have that day. Don't over think it, just get it! It's a weekly routine for us. Oh, and the samosas are a amazing!
