We came here for a casual early dinner. Little did I know, that I would meet such an amazing owner there. The food tasted amazing, well, of course it does when the restaurant is owned by a extremely passionate, energetic, dedicated Indian food expert. Through our short conversation, I could see the owner is well travelled and knows his Indian recipes very well and put in efforts to express his love for food and travel stories into creating each dish. Great experience there, with the price being also reasonable. Can’t wait to go back there again! And hoping that next time I’m there, I could have more conversation with the owner! What an interesting soul! What a great place to experience authentic Indian cuisine’
My wife and I don't normally eat Indian, often it is a little intimidating to order it, so we often pass on to other food options. Until we stopped by Indie Counterculture. WOW. Food was amazing, and we are SO glad we stopped in. The restaurant and decor is amazing, and the staff was so kind. But the food, we took out, and it was THE BOMB. We are 100% coming back, highly recommended. The names of the dishes are kind of awesome : We ordered: The Spud Slumdog Bo Peep Butter Clucker Poutine Gump THIS WAS MY FAVOURITE Don't miss this place
Delicious Indian food full of flavor. Really friendly staff, and the place in general has a very nice vibe. Perfect for a great meal, while chilling and enjoying music from the eighties and nineties.
The staff is friendly but you need to be patience. It was a pity that what I called starters, came together with the main course. Also not to well heated, but the taste was very good. Okra curry tasted well, but again not well heated.
I have to be honest I was skeptical at first, but wow am I ever impressed! The food was absolutely delicious!! The staff was so friendly and helpful! Really glad we stopped and ate here!
I was intrigued by this place when it popped up on my search… our Airbnb is 5 minutes away so we tried it. It was good. The garlic naan was yummy and BIG! Hubby got the “Slum Dog” and it was really good! The samosa were waaaay salty for some reason - my guess is it was a mistake. It killed whatever good flavor was beneath all the salt Only left out one star for this reason.
Amazing and very fast service. Good food. Tastes well. Clean premises. Fusion Indian food is what you can expect at this restaurant
The food was really good! The vibes were pretty chill as well, recommend trying the butter chicken here!
This review is intended as a facts only account of my experience at this restaurant and not a personal critique of the staff or owners. We are Calgarians and eat out once a week, usually trying somewhere new. We really like Indian and saw this restaurant’s positive reviews. However the experience was very poor. We were seated at a table that was covered in a sticky material such that objects like cell phones sat down on the table would stick and leave residue on the item. I asked to have it cleaned and they said the sticky substance does not come off the table. It was very off putting and somewhat disgusting as I don’t know what the sticky stuff was. We were brought our food and the waitress left to get us cutlery and plates and possibly got distracted as we waited for an extended period before having to get up and go ask again for plates and cutlery while our food was getting cold. Server did not check on us at all. The food was very poor in taste compared to other Indian restaurants and was mostly cold. No high chair for children. All around a very poor experience. Perhaps ordering to go is a better experience? I would recommend trying a different Indian restaurant as Calgary has many great options. Thank you
So we just came in to try this restaurant out of sheer curiosity but were absolutely blown away, not only by the food, presentation and setting, but the amazing owner. I can honestly say it was the best experience I’ve EVER had. He made such amazing conversation, was so passionate about his food and business. He just overall was a joy to be around. The food was amazing. With most Indian restaurants I’ve noticed just too much spice and no flavour and I can handle my spice. The food here was such a nice mix of flavour, there was always that one ingredient that was used or the way it was incorporated that kept you tasting more and more to guess what it was. I am a huge fan of falooda shakes, and so far of the 10-15 places I’ve visited, I only had one place that I liked. BUT… wow the one here was just amazing. The not too sweet and not too sour with the hint of cardamom really made my taste buds happy. The falooda shake here is now in my top 2, and usually that would be a hard decision for me but this was an easy choice. I can’t wait to visit again and try new things! I had the best experience ever :
