Originally recommended to me by my viet friend. From the exterior it definitely looks like a "hole in the wall". But the second I walked in and saw the homely stove and food prep areas I knew we were in for a treat. Although their name features bahn mi, I was drawn to their chicken sticky rice and steamed cha siu bao. I was blown away by the price $13.00 around for both items. And even more blown away by the taste and authentic flavors of the sticky rice and bao. Truly reminded me of food I've had in Asia. I 100% recommend I Am Banh Mi if you live in or visit this area. Do not be turned away by the exterior look, your taste buds and stomach will thank you. BONUS for locals as well is they have a point card. Every 10th dish will be free after collecting 9 stamps.
I liked their Dac Biet Saigon filled with yummy Vietnamese cold cuts, pickled daikon & carrots, mayo, and spicy Thai peppers. It definitely satiates my bhan mi cravings
We bought 3 banh mi, 2 Saigon and 1 Vegetarian. The prices were a bit more expensive than usual, but still, we were well pleased. The portions were great, ingredients fresh and the sandwich was tasty. The lady was really nice too, took care of our orders, made suggestions and answered any questions we had of the menu. Will definitely come again!
Bought 2 beef banh mi and 1 bao. For starters, the price is unbeatable for the quality of food you’re getting. Servings are extremely generous, and flavor is off the charts. It’s been over 2 months since We were in town and got to enjoy this meal, and my wife and I still regularly think about it once a week because that’s how often we wish we could go again
I've been to this banh mi shop twice during the same trip. I had picked up a sandwich while heading out for a week and it was all I could think of that I would miss out on if I didn't go back to Montreal. The ladies who operate the shop are lovely and welcoming, and the sandwiches are just downright delicious - I think it was what started my banh mi addiction that I'm looking wherever I go. I especially love that they use the red Thai chili peppers. Also the two times I have been in, I see they're very family oriented which gives me an incentive to come back more for support of their shop.
This review is specifically for Banh mi #4 beef lemongrass. I used to go to Vua for Banh mi, but they were always closed. I found out this stall on google and gave it a try. I got the beef lemongrass, and it has been my favourite. Prince and I have tried all the Banh mi. Our favourite is still the beef lemongrass. I highly recommend #4. FYI They put black pepper inside. Personally, we do not like it. We always ask them not to put black pepper.
Hands down the BEST banh mi I had in Montreal!!! I can never go elsewhere for banh mi after tasting theirs. From their fresh bread, toasty outside and soft inside to their meat fillings choices and homemade butter! Wow everything is soo good! And the customers service is so friendly and nice. Thank you! I recommend to everyone I know.
Must try pork or chicken sticky rice. Budget- friendly Good quantity Excellent service
I tried the banh mi and the vapor bun with pork last weekend and they were INCREDIBLE. But I have to mention that chicken banh mi I had was one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. I live far but it’s so worth it to go downtown to get that awesome food. Highly recommended.
Absolutely amazing Bahn Mi experience. I have gone to a lot of bahn mi places as they are usually cheap and decently good. This place however is by far the beat bahn mi I have had in Montreal. Fresh veggies, great meat selection, and the bread is some of the best I’ve had. Overall highly recommend, especially when the huge sandwiches are less than $5!!!!!
