Story

Huntley High School is a public high school in Huntley, Illinois, USA. The catchment area includes Consolidated School District 158, which includes all of Huntley as well as parts of Lake in the Hills, Algonquin, and other surrounding communities and rural areas. The BuildingThe current building, located at 13719 Harmony Road in Huntley, IL, was constructed in 1997, and at the time was the school district’s first new building in about 30 years. It was originally designed as a middle-high school, with a shared cafeteria and library in the center of the building. The original high school building, located on Mill Street in Huntley, was built in the 1960s and only featured about a dozen classrooms and outdated facilities. In the 1990s, the district’s enrollment increased with suburban growth, and the school facilities needed to be expanded. After the new building was built in 1997, the old building served grades 4-5, before finally being converted into a recreational center when it was sold to the Huntley Park District in the early 2000s.AdditionsIn 1999, the building’s first major addition was a 12 classroom wing on the west end designed for temporary usage for grade 5. In 2000, when the new elementary schools were built, this wing served the high school's mathematics, foreign language, and social studies classes. In 2002, substantial additions were made to both the west and east sides of the building. On the west end, was a second wing which created a new main office for the high school, special education classrooms, high school science labs and classrooms, and 8th grade classrooms. A 4-classroom wing housing health classrooms and a computer lab connected the two western wings and completely surrounded the west gym (middle school gym).

When I used to go to this school, I always felt negative towards it. But now that I've moved away, this is DEFINITELY not the case. I just never gave HHS a chance. excellent teachers & security, amazing education, friendly community, delicious lunches, the lists goes on & on. I just want to let everyone who works or learns at this school to keep up the amazing work. You're obviously a one of a kind school. Possible one of the best schools in America. I hope to visit sometime to relive me precious memories with my friends & family. Thank you for the best freshman year any teen could ask for! -Jackson Wheelock
It's your average high school. Not the best there is, but neither is it the worst. Be grateful at least the teachers there provide decent education. There are millions of people around the world, including young children, who are stricken with poverty and cannot afford to get educated. These victims also reside in the USA as well. So before we start running around and call schools out for their minor imperfections, look below you and see how better we all have it. This school is great, I have memories that will forever last in me, literally. And I have learned a lot as well.
The teachers aren't racist, but the students sure as hell are. Some of the teachers did , however, constantly make excuses for blatantly offensive statements and behavior from their white students, and if any of us with color did something about it, if we ever stood up for ourselves, we would get suspended or otherwise punished. "Oh x person is not used to dealing with other races they don't know any better" Don't know any better? They old enough to know better! They aren't an infant. Don't treat them like one. Good teachers, the ones who really try and care, the ones who aren't glorified idiots, include Ms. St. Clair, Mr. Sturm, Mr. Teagle, Mr. Steyers, Mr. Fulbright, Mr. Raethz, Mrs. Wheeler, Mr. Tambellini, and a few others. If your kid gets enrolled here, pray to whatever you believe in they'll have at least a few of these teachers.
Most teachers are complete morons and have no idea how to teach a class. Our school gets a 3 million dollar loan and decide to build a fieldhouse, new part of school, and a new track, but they still don't fix our POS bathrooms and our god auful WiFi. Still no attempt to fix the MASSIVE drug problem, we just keep buying the freshmen new chromebooks. 10/10 would smoke weed in the bathrooms again.
Before I attended huntley high school I was a friendly outgoing kid with ambition and potential to succeed in life. By the time I graduated 4 years later however, I was the complete opposite person. I left that place mentally and physically scarred. It started freshman year. The friend group I had started having drama, this led to me getting into a fight with a former friend, during the fight he butted his head against my face and broke my nose making it crooked. I went to the hospital after and Instead of fixing my nose the doctor just said it was fine. So my nose ended up healing crooked. I’m now 21 and my nose is still crooked to this day and it has taken a huge toll on my self confidence for years. Now I have to spend thousands of dollars for cosmetic surgery if I want to fix it. It makes my face look ugly and weird. So that was freshman year. Starting sophomore year fake rumors started being spread about me because of the drama. This led to me being harassed and bullied on social media by lots of people I didn’t even know and who didn’t even know me. I started to lift weights and work out to build my confidence and so maybe people would stop bullying me. It worked for a while until I injured my wrist from lifting weights. I injured my left wrist at 17 during junior year and now years later it still gives me pain and has prevented me from joining the military because I can’t put weight on it anymore. I’ve asked doctors for help but they dont care and I’ve been to physical therapy but it didn’t help at all. All because I injured it in that school. I never made a single friend during my 4 years at that school. Nobody wanted anything to do with me. The social outcast. By senior year I would eat lunch alone in the cafe until I got too embarrassed of people staring so I started to eat my lunch alone in the bathroom stall. I did this until I finally got a car then I would go eat in my car at lunch. Less humiliating atleast. The only girl I actually dated at that school wasn’t even from that school she came from a different school because none of the girls at huntley wanted to talk to me let alone date me. Then my girlfriend left me senior year for someone else and they ended up going to college together and they are still together and I haven’t had a girlfriend since. I saw them kissing in the hallway and I couldn’t stand being at that place anymore so I talked to my parents and I ended up finishing the last few months of senior year from home. The experience mentally and emotionally scarred me to the point of isolating myself from the world. I’m now 21 and the last time I dated a girl I was 17. It’s been almost 5 years since I’ve had physical contact with a female and I blame it on them for destroying what was left of my confidence and self worth. That experience at that school really screwed up my head. Then after senior year I only had one friend left from school. But he talked down to me and made fun of me a lot but it was the only friend I had so I didn’t have much of a choice. Well one day when I was 19 he convinced me to go skateboarding with him and his friends and I ended up falling down a ramp and breaking my ankle. I rolled it pretty bad. I went to the hospital and they put me in a cast and gave me crutches. Once my ankle “healed” it started cracking when I walked. And it’s been cracking ever since. Now my ankle cracks very loud with every step when I walk up the stairs. It cracks loud when I walk every single day and will for the rest of my life. This is now another thing I have to live with for the rest of my life a painful loud cracking ankle that pops and cracks with almost every single step I take. I miss my old ankle that didn’t hurt or crack. I miss my old nose that wasn’t crooked and makes my face look ugly and weird. A couple months later me and this “friend” got in a fist fight because he called me a broke loser and we are no longer friends. And that pretty much sums up my highschool experience and the permanent toll it has taken on my life even after I graduated. God please help me.
Its pretty cool. Mike Laing is probably the coolest guy there. Some classes are hard but what do you expect.
