If you want good food? Or a good, safe Saturday night out to karaoke? You go to Hunan. Like the graffiti in the woman’s bathroom says “Hunan isn’t a place, it’s a way of life”. No one is a better karaoke host than Larry! Hunan is sure to make any occasion feel special and welcome.
My friends and I have gotten Hunan here and there for three years in a row now but always for New Years Eve. The food is incredible and plentiful and the staff are always so kind especially when we order food for 4+ people on a holiday we make sure to tip well too. The exterior and location of the building makes it seem sketchy but I promise this is some incredible food and if you order ahead for takeout the process is so simple and easy. Give this place a try!
The place was freezing and had four guests. I should have known at that moment and turned around and walked out. The waitress seated me in the center of the empty restaurant. After about 10 minutes she came over and asked if I wanted ice water. I told her no it is very cold in here, she offered hot tea. She brought hot tea. Tasted like soap I asked if the dinners came with fried rice. She said yes for an extra $1.50. I said that would be fine give me one moment please. She left and and did not return. She stood on the other side of the restaurant with her back to me for about 15 minutes. Maybe the worst place I've ever been.
Please be cleaner. Saw dust ,Cobb webs. Bathrooms dark no light. Seat had sand or something on it. Sugar packet wrapper in soup. Will not choose the item I chose to eat next time. Too much breading.Food: 4/5
Randomly stopped in here at 8:30 on Friday night for one drink. It was a little odd feeling in there since it was cold and completely dead. However, I saw they had karaoke and we decided to stay for a little longer than planned. Had such a great time after that. The bartender was great, sang a ton of songs and everyone was so friendly including all of the other patrons in the bar. We seriously didn’t want to leave and are already planning to go there again ASAP for karaoke. Never tried the food, but will definitely be frequenting the bar on weekends for karaoke moving forward.
This is out usual Chinese take-out spot. I have to say though we were there the Monday after Xmas with a large group. The waitress was super sweet and the food came out family-style hot and super tasty. It tastes a lot different from the takeout fare. But, maybe that's just me. Place wasn't busy and yes it's cold. But, the place has an older restaurant charm and is very large with lots of windows. So, it is probably just far more cost effective for them no to have heat and have their lights and signs turned off. This place is a gem but sadly with inflation and Covid and the area not being busy I'm sure they have cut staff to save money. It unfortunately is a shame because the staff there have always been sweet and nice. I hope to see it bounce back. Vegetarian options: Yes I like getting the steamed veggie gyoza and veggie fried rice Kid-friendliness: It's a family restaurant they have seen their share of kiddos my daughters love seeing the fish and family style dinners are great for portions up the kids plates. We bring our own toddler ware so that it doesn't hinder or harm any of the restaurants dinnerware so I'd recommend bringing those they offer high chairs as well. Parking: Lots of parking Wheelchair accessibility: The main entrance is a ramp so very wheelchair accessible.
My brother and l went to Hunan Palace for dinner, it was our first time there. As soon as we came in the place the waitress told us that the heater was broken, and l was cold the whole time l was there. There was noone else in the place , and on a Saturday night it should be packed, I wonder why it wasn't? Could it be that the food was no good? We would soon find out. We ordered two A combination plates. The helping was more than enough. You get almond fried chicken, sweet and sour pork , chicken chow mein, and pork fried rice, plus a soup of the day. We payed 2 dollars extra each cause we wanted won ton soup. The soup was o.k., but the rest of the food was terrible, no wonder there was noone there. The tea wasn't even hot ,just lukewarm and when we were ready to leave we asked why we didn't get our fortune cookie and the waitress said she ran out. S32.96 was what the 2 dinners came to, what a ripoff. We got fooled once but never again. We will not be returning ever. I don't understand how this place can stay open.
Food was good. Reasonably priced combination meal. Disappointed in that no tea was offered and no fortune cookies after meal. Only Pepsi products for soft drinks.Food: 3/5
Excellent food - total satisfaction in every possible way! Walking distance from Delta hotel, across the street from Denny’s, this place is a true hidden gem. Clean well lit interiors, friendly but unobtrusive staff take your order quickly and efficiently. Fragrant jasmine tea on the house is a plus. In addition to standard fare, this place has good selection of seafood and other chef’s specials that are worth exploring. My three seafood sizzling platter was delightfully flavorful, very well presented with excellent quality shrimp, scallops and fish.
Had lunch there last week, love their food; however, I ordered deep fried prawns appetizer and they were so crunchy and the prawns were almost completely dried up to where there wasn't a prawn in there, LOL Great one man show, great service, thank you
