Houston Avenue Bar & Grill - Laval

I had a nice time here last night. I heard this is a trendy spot for 5 a 7's on Thursday nights and it didn't disappoint. I thought there was a nice crowd and friendly staff. The drinks were relatively cheap. The only damper on my evening is that I lost my wallet and Opus card. I hate to falsely accuse of theft, but I am certain I walked into the restaurant with those items, and I noticed they were missing when I tried to pay my bill. I have a feeling someone reached into my jacket pocket as I had my jacket hanging over my bar stool. I hope I receive the items in the mail. I will still go back to Houston, but I will be more mindful of where I keep my valuables. The staff tried their best to check if they could find my wallet and I am appreciative of that.

Service was great and polite, we were served by the beautiful Joelle. The food was redundant. My friend asked for a steak and it was covered with some pasta sauce, I mean who covers steak with pasta sauce? The meat felt like it was old and overcooked. She sent it back and ordered tuna tacos which was small. Otherwise, the vibe was good, drinks were reasonable and thats the only reason we will come back.

Poor service. The steak used to be good quality and now the quality just isn't their. Pass. Would not recommend.

Houston we have a problem..... although service was polite and fast and food was good, the way we were greeted by your hostess last night set a very bad tone for our visit to your restaurant. Pro tip: When a frail elderly guest with a walker, obviously slow moving and with an unsteady gait arrives, its generally not a good idea to race to the other side of the restaurant at top speed, running up stairs and then back down and expecting the disabled person and their family to be following close behind. Why not instead lead them through the route that does not have stairs to manoeuvre and go at the speed that they can manage? That would be just a wee bit more kind and respectful, don't you think????
