Story

Named after the Chinese southern province famous for its spicy cuisine, the locally owned restaurant House of Hunan by Suen with locations in Fairlawn, and Medina, brings authentic Asian fare to local diners.

Open for Lunch and Dinner
Chef Suen oversees the kitchens in all locations, serving up both Thai favorites and traditional Asian dishes. His cooking style can be best described as global fusion— not only emphasizing Asian flavors but also infusing new dishes with Italian, French, and American nuances.

Known for its top-notch sushi, House of Hunan's sushi bars welcome diners as soon as they walk in with a menu including more than 50 sushi rolls and assortments, including sashimi and futomaki.

I love House Of Hunan!! The food is so good and the decor is really nice. They have the best egg rolls and won ton soup. I bring my friends visiting from out of town and they are always impressed. It's the place I take my friends to when we want to stay local but not go to a chain like Applebees, it's a local favorite. I also go to the one in Akron when I'm there.

It was pretty good. It took about 15 minutes for somebody to come to our table and take our drink order. Then another 15 minutes for somebody to come take her actual order. But the food is fresh, hot, and delicious.

Traditional Chinese-american dishes are very good. Thai stuff is meh, sushi is ok, service has always been good. Reasonable prices for portion sizes.

Food was okay. Waitress ruined any chance of enjoying our dinner . Didn't take a drink order,we had to ask. She just took our food order and tried to leave the table. I had to go to the bar to get out chopsticks. She forgot parts of the order and had to go back a few times. We had to wait and try to get her attention for drink refills and to go boxes. Wil not be back.

It honestly pains me to have to even give this place one star. While I have never eaten here I NEVER will. On Saturday I parked in an open lot behind this location. The lot had a 4 hour time limit. After the 3 hours that I was at the square I returned to my car only to find a big truck parked behind me. The spot next to me was open and I figured I could easily maneuver my car through this spot without having to have the truck owner move. As I was getting into my car 2 men came out of the restaurant one wearing a chef jacket and the other was the truck owner, presumably an employee also. The truck guy starts screaming at me asking why I would ever think it's okay to park where I was parked or try to leave the spot without getting him first. I explained my thought process to which I was told was "pretty stupid." The chef then came up to my passenger window and asked me where I was while I was gone. I told him I didn't feel like that was his business and he kept asking. I told him I was at cool beans and he replied "not for that long you weren't." I rolled up my window and the truck was moved all the while the owner of the truck was in the cab throwing his arms in the air and screaming some more. I'm not sure in what world it is okay to try to intimidate someone that wasn't doing anything wrong, let alone a young woman that's by herself. Harassment is never okay and was the last thing I expected on a Saturday afternoon in the Medina square. I will tell everyone I know not to ever go to this restaurant again!
