Food here was too spicy and too good. I love how perfect clams were cooked , so Is the pork and shrimp, it’s not too chewy or not too hard. Perfectly cooked and it’s has really good flavour which makes you crave more.
It was a good lunch for me. I did like the Sichuan pork jowl and Kung Pao chicken. Crispy chicken skin was too crispy and would prefer to have it as appetizer with drinks. Also I did order vegetarian hot pot with an expectation of a saucy veggies served in hot bowl, but to my surprise I got stir fry fried veggies on a large serving platter. I would recommend @hotopia downtown to have some more beverage options. Although it's a good place to enjoy authenticity and spice.
I was craving pork intestines found that I could get some at Hotopia. Was not disappointed-pork was chewy and flavourful, and the hot peppers literally killed me in a good way. Also had the squid and garlic sprouts needed more salt. Finally, tried the pickled basa soup which was my least favorite. The broth was straight up just sour and impossible to consume as a main dish. The pro is that the soup portion is massive; someone I know once took their soup to go and it lasted them 5 days..
Had a portion of Kung Pao Chicken and Rice. It was *hot* but quite delicious. Flavourful and crisp veggies helped with the texture. The menu had a lot of Chinese options to select fromFood: 4/5
First of all, the waitress was extremely knowledgeable and answered ALL of our questions. Every plate was a masterpiece, visually and the flavours were exquisite. Amazing food and flawless service. Thank you for this experience.
I went to hotopia for dinner tonight. One of the waitress was rly mean. She wouldn’t let us sit on the booth after asking for multiple times with a claim that they were in busy hour with attitude. However, the booth was empty the whole time while we were eating. The food was ok but the service was so bad. You definitely don’t want to be treated like this especially for your birthday. Not recommend.
Their foods will never disappoint you!! Full of taste and flavor. Highly recommended!!
Mala pot is spicy. recommend eat with Kung Pao or fried cabbage.Recommended dishes, Kung Pao Chicken, Wok Fried Cabbage
Hotopia has been one of my favourite restaurants in downtown Toronto for the past 3 years. I order the same dish every time, but tonight is the last. There has been consistency issues in the past with the food, which I overlooked, but the food tonight was beyond spicy. It tasted like fire from hell. My partner and I couldn’t even eat it, and what we did eat made us sick due to the extreme spice level. I’ve ordered this dish over 20-40 times and it’s never been this horrible so I will not be returning. I hope this location gets their kitchen in order and finally commits to using the same recipe because it’s making the Hotopia restaurants look and taste very bad. Sorry to say so, but it’s been my experience.
One of the best Sichuan restaurants in downtown. You get tons of quality food for a very reasonable price. I used to dine in very often before the pandemic and finally decided to try their takeout to eat at home. It was delicious and the portion size is huge like before. I recommend their soup series, especially the pickle flavored basa in soup. The beef and ox tripe in chili sauce, and the green pepper fried pork intestine are also must orders every time we visit.
