1-23-23 Going in I didn't want to have any expectations especially after reading the reviews. With a level mind I went. I ordered the Gyoza and Seared Tuna as the starters. Then the Tequila roll, the Super Crunch, Spicy Tuna, and Hamachi Nigiri. Gyoza was fully fried all around. I like my Gyoza to be crispy on the bottom and soft on top. it was still good, just not as good as it should be. Seared tuna was fantastic with great umami and a nice spicy chili note. The combination of the seasoned oil and tender thin slices of tuna really was a pleasure. My family loved the Super Crunch and it was our most favorite. The Tequila roll was also really good. The Spicy Tuna was okay. I liked that the spicy mayo sauce for it was really not mayo but their own take vs the heavy mayo sauces usually used in this roll. We ended with the Hamachi Nigiri and it was great. Very fresh and tender that is very satisfying. Their sushi rice complimented all of the rolls and Nigiri. Overall this place will be on my short list of go-to Sushi spots in the Naperville area. Number one being Momoya and this a close second. It's on the pricey side but good sushi will always be, plus in this economy, it was fair. Didn't get a pic of the seared tuna, family tore into it before I could! Also our bill was $120 with gratuity for 2 adults, 1 teen, and 1 toddler. Just enough not to be full.
I gone to various sushi places to include Kyoto and Tokyo in japan This by no means is a fancy restaurant, however it is pretty authentic feels like a restaurant down in Tokyo streets nice small and delicious The fish was extremely fresh and the rice for sushi extremely well done I do recommend coming here , if you are just hungry for good sushi and a nice hot sake this is the place to go Favorite sushi was Super white tuna Albacore Yellow tail And Sweet shrimp As far Maki sushi goes well the tequila Maki was insane ! Highly recommend !!
Easily one of, if not the best sushi restaurant in the area. The quality of their ingredients is top notch. 10/10
Went for the first time with my son. The service and staff were top notch. Perfect place to enjoy a great selection of fresh sushi. We tried all the specials and they were excellent. Had a great experience and it will be my weekly spot. I had been looking for a place like this for awhile.Food: 5/5
Our order was ready in 1 hour the rstaraunt was empty. As a result, they brought us such small portions that they remained in the teeth, they were not tasty. We ourselves can make these rolls much better at home. I do not recommend to anyone. Never before have I been so dissatisfied with a restaurant.
Great Sushi! I have only had carry-out here, so I cannot speak to the dine-in service, but the food is absolutely excellent! I do not live in the area, but whenever I visit relatives in Naperville, I make sure to get some sushi rolls from Hoshi. Some of the menu options can get a bit pricey, but are typical of fresh, creative sushi restaurants. You won't be disappointed!
everything would be fine, but the price is too high for such a quality of sushi .. the rice was incomprehensible, the tempura has a feeling that the oliya has not changed for a long time, upset, it was the first time and I won’t be back. The quality of the products needs to be improved. I also ordered squid in tempura, the colmar itself was normal, but the tempura is terrible ... alas ... in the Roka restaurant the price of sushi is the same but the level of products is generally different.
This sushi is the best for authentic sushi and the sushi is always fresh and well-presented and their seasoning of the sushi is perfect. The owners are friendly and accommodating. A nice and clean atmosphere.
Delightful experience at this new family-owned sushi joint where Taka once sat. Minimalistic interior paired with high-quality, melt in your mouth sushi. The sashimi was deliciously fresh and generously sliced, classic rolls were perfect. The Bear and Lobster tempura rolls were also impressive and creative. Service was attentive and friendly. The chefs even surprised us with a special plate. Absolute hidden gem!
Possibly some of the best sushi I've had in the burbs from a pure nigiri standpoint. Rice cooked nicely be and not over handled, a touch of wasabi under each nigiri, and two of each nigiri per tradition. Really good stuff hidden in this little strip mall.
