What a great campground, we had a great time! Bathrooms were always pristine and everywhere was mowed and Weedeated. We enjoyed the large spaces and the huge lower field is awesome! They have a little play structure for kids and lots of room to play!
We really enjoyed our stay at the Honey Bear and it was close to the ocean. We were able to go across the 101 to get to the beach, which was great. The property itself it huge and beautiful! The downside is that most of the RV spaces feel a bit random, pretty tight on room, and appear to need some maintenance. Tent sites on the other hand - WOW! This might be one of the most unique tent places I have ever seen. A tent camper’s paradise! Overall a very lovely location, but feels a bit run down. Sites have lots of weeds, lack gravel upkeep, and it took 4 blocks on one side to level. The layout feels confusing and some sites face each other, which is uncomfortable if not traveling with someone else. All that said, we really enjoyed our stay and thought the location was fantastic and would stay again. The reason for the 3 stars is mostly for appearance. The back loop by huckleberry pond has the most room, by far, of all the RV sites. pictured below Thank you for hosting us and we would absolutely return.
This is a wonderful RV park for more than just a few days! Walking trail to the beach, lots of acreage for walking on mowed paths, and birding the ponds and creeks and forest environments. Laundry, showers, ocean views and/or can hear the ocean from some sites. Most sites have a little more room than standard parks, and grass coverage on flat spots. Tent spots are along the edges of a huge meadow and are spacious and isolated and quiet! Bathroom facility there is a blue porta-potty, and there is no water. A little on the spendy side at $68/day, but they have rates for longer stays too.
Humbug Mt State Park was full, so we headed South to this place. It is a beautiful campground, but it does have some downfalls. Sites are VERY close together and it is very expensive. Almost $70 a night. Make sure you mention Good Sam and Military for discounts. Grateful we got a spot for the night, but it did come at a price.
My husband and I, along with our two dogs, had a great time at Honey Bear by the Sea. We had the perfect campsite with a view of the ocean and lots of privacy. The spaces were large and we were very comfortable. The beach was fabulous and so close. Just a brief walk away. The staff are helpful, very friendly and kind and the dog park was amazing. It is fenced in, so you can unleash your dogs and let them run and get all that pent up energy out! I highly recommend this resort. It was a big highlight of our summer trip!
I really enjoyed my site. It had a great view! It was close to the beach too. It had a nice play structure and a big field. My stay was really good! :
Wonderful campground, so close to the ocean and Ophir park. Excellent hosts. Walkable to the beach and bike-able to the little Gold Beach town with some excellent dining options and activities. A short drive to Humbug Mountain for hikes and Port Orford for more entertainment, tours, and cute food spots. The dog park here is perfect for traveling with pups and all grounds and amenities are well kept. Elks and deer wander the expansive grounds at dusk and dawn. Beautiful! Highly recommend!
My personal ratings for 5 stars would include level, cement pads and patios. However, we really enjoyed this park. It has kind of an interesting layout and the roads around the park can be narrow. Many spots are designed for folks traveling together. The girl in the office was awesome and kind to our dog, Louie. A nice path takes you right to the Beach. Also, they use Tengo internet for access, which i used but did security warnings on the url to access it.
I would like to give this place three stars as the grounds and bathrooms were very nice. When my husband originally set up the reservations we asked to be close to our friends. He was told you can’t request specific sites and they put you wherever. Untrue because our other friends were able to get sites together. We were put in a smallish site with all hookups and ocean view which makes it the most expensive in the campground. We managed and were perfectly comfortable. They offer free Wi-Fi but it barely works. No where on the check in paperwork is the check out times nor did they mention it upon check in. Our cell service was spotty and I couldn’t pull up the website to verify. I should have asked because I assumed noon like most campgrounds we have stayed out through Oregon. Checkout was 11am. We left our site by noon and pulled down to some friends that were staying an extra day. We ended up leaving the campground at 2pm. We noticed an extra $50 charge on our account. We were told that because we didn’t checkout on time and the camera saw us leaving at 2pm we were charged. If you let them know ahead of time it’s a $15 fee to checkout late. My husband let the owners know they must need the money more than us and lesson learned. The picture shows me standing in the other persons spot to take the picture the end of the table is the line of where our campsite ends. Read through the website before booking there are a lot of things they can and will charge you for. We cleaned up our campsite before and afterwards upon leaving.
Great place to camp. We had a Trailer site for two nights. The trailer/RV site aren't very private but some better than others. Clean, well maintained, helpful, friendly staff. Lots of trails, several ponds and a beautiful meadow. Pet friendly and only a five minute walk to the beach. They have laundry facilities, game room and little shop for basic necessities. There is a playground for kids and horseshoe pits.
