On our First visit to Home Quarter my breakfast was cold, had to send it back to warm it up. I'm a firm believer that if you have a bad experience tell the staff. They were told. I'm also a firm believer that they deserve a Second visit! On our Second visit to Home Quarter, my breakfast came cold! Other tables? Food was hot! I have come to the conclusion that the servers were too occupied making specialty coffees and the meals sat instead of being taken out immediately. I also believe there won't be a Third Visit!
I've been here several times, although I think I won't patronize them again as I just can't justify spending $3.50 plus tax on a 16 ounce drip brew given the service that ranges from indifferent to downright poor, as others have commented.. Good location and pleasant atmosphere. On my last visit I was the only one in the shop and EVERY SINGLE TABLE either had dirty dishes on it or needed to have the crumbs and spills wiped off. I walked around the place three times before finally sitting at what looked like a clean spot at the window bar. Half an hour later there are still multiple dirty dishes on the main floor banquettes and there have been virtually no customers come in. I wonder why they even put out a tip jar because they're not doing anything to earn it.
Home quarter and it’s prime location unfortunately does not live up to its potential. I love having the upstairs space to work but the atmosphere itself could be so much better. I have visited on numerous occasions and have never walked away feeling like the servers were even remotely friendly. This careless behaviour is reflected in the lack of quality of the drinks. Iced coffee beverages often have 5-6 ice cubes floating on top and lack sweetness. As someone who works in the service industry, I believe that improving staff morale and presentation should be management’s first priority. I believe HomeQuarter should take advantage of its riverfront proximity and improve in this area. 3 stars.
Pretty good. Couple suggestions: the grilled cheese should be grilled with butter, not dry like a panini. The turkey club would be better toasted and had way too much mustard on it.
The women working this morning March 15th was so friendly, kind and attentive over the phone. The sandwich, salad, coffee, and cheesecakes were absolutely amazing too.
I was really excited to come here after I discovered it today. The atmosphere was really nice and there was lots of room for groups and individuals who wanted to study. Lots of natural light and plug ins for USB and pronged cords. Tons of options to choose from. I had egg salad sandwich, iced chai latte, and carrot cake. Unfortunately, they forgot my chai latte and then charged me two times for it. I waited about 15-20 minutes after I ordered, then thought they called mine, so I stood by the pick up counter, but didn't see a drink. I waited there and the servers just looked at me. I went back to my spot and waited another 10 minutes. I went back and said I hadn't gotten my drink yet. The server said she must not've punched in the drink when I ordered the sandwich. She then charged me for the drink. After I sat down, I thought the sandwich must have been expensive because I paid $20~, which included a tip. Then I looked up the sandwich and saw it was normally $11. So I must've paid for the drink at that time, too. I didn't want to raise it with staff in person but I was a bit sad about that. I then went home and had a really bad stomach problem... It was a really bad first experience but I really do like supporting local cafes and bakeries. I don't want to cause this business problems, but maybe my comment will help for the future. I'm not sure if I will come back but I hope others try it and have a good time. My visit was probably just a one-off.
First time visit and in love with it!! Great indoor environment. Amazing coffee! But most importantly, amazing desert options. Tried peanut delight and Saskatoon berry cheesecake. It's amazing and highly recommend. Also the butter tart latte is one that shouldn't be missed.
A nice little coffee shop located across the street from the farmer’s market. I went in for a working lunch. I had the Reuben sandwich and a raspberry mint iced tea. At $10.50, the price is a bit high for a sandwich only; however, it tasted great. The banquet seating is quite comfortable and the cafe has a nice ambience that allows for a focused work environment. I didn’t have a pastry, but they look amazing, and I will try one next time.
Today I chosed lime cheesecake and LatteI liked lattethe cake was so sour for mebut it's still nice with latte.next time I will try the saskatoonberry cake
Super cozy atmosphere, friendly staff and delicious treats! Their puffed wheat is my favourite! Highly recommend this cafe to anyone
