Was offered help from the moment I walked into the store, the store seems to have whatever you may need or be able to order it. They have a nice variety of paint and will have it all mixed up for you very quickly.

Poor customer service. Unable to find anyone to help me with pricing in the lumber section. Cashiers were more interested in chatting about their weekend plans than ringing me through.

The lumber counter for contractors will only accept charge account orders now. They will not accept any payments for your purchases not debit or credit cards you must go to the front checkout cashier. That’s a long walk back to the front of the store and back to your vehicle if you have entered from the warehouse drive through. The reason I was given was they wanted faster service for contractors. So much for the smaller cash paying contractors and DIY homeowners.

Hardware is second to everything else now, this used to be a great store but after they renovated, it seems more like it caters to everything but hardware the front of the store is all trinkets and pots and pans, went in to look at some tools and they were way in the back in a couple of aisles with not much selection. It's more like a home outfitters now with a few tools and if you want anything at the lumber desk don't waste your time, just make the effort to go to a real hardware store.

Kevin in lumber, was great to deal with, even though we had to return a damaged used door, unbeknownst to Home Hardware!. Kevin handled it professionally and went above and beyond to help. Note to Customers:: Don't use a door and return it making it look like never opened! Hassle for store and customer! Not cool.

I think you can sum up the place as an interesting paradox at best and my advice would be to avoid it overall. I recently interviewed for positions here and walked away with the same conflicted opinions I did as a customer. I had one interview which was professional and courteous. I was called in for a second interview which came across as the exact opposite. Being asked about political affiliations and willingness to change if hired, comments regarding, "not getting any younger" and "are you a tech geek"...left me walking away with zero interest in working or shopping here in the future. If the second manager had have touched upon religion and a physical disability, he would have hit the lawsuit wet dream for most attorneys...and he touched the points he did with an HR manager sitting in the room, which is even more shocking. As far as customer experience in the past, mixed reviews. I've been in the store and asked about corbels, the guy didn't know what a corbel was. Asked for a specific measurement of casing, I was led to the isle and told if they had it, it would be in the isle somewhere. I'd like to say that a review here makes any difference, but I can tell you from talking to them it doesn't. They weren't even aware of their online reviews and that most reviews express a shared opinion there's a general lack of knowledge from employees. The manager I spoke with during the second interview had no idea Google was more than a search engine. A multi-billion dollar global company that he interacts with daily whether he knows it or not, that has association with the franchise he works for, that is expanding into home products which will be sold through the same type of store he manages...meh, why bother knowing anything like that. That's a level of head in the sand ignorance you have to work at to maintain. Quality of service and advice here is random, so good luck if you choose to shop here.

I liked the service, even though I was dealing with someone in training, he got help and was able to give me what I needed. I wasn't impressed with their pricing though. I think maybe they are more department store and less home improvement warehouse.
