A gem and will shine even more after they get settled. The beef back ribs were very tasty and could benefit from more time smoking to be a little more tender I am just nit picking. The brisket sandwich comes with so much tasty brisket slices it is a good meal! Brioche bun is a great touch and I would recommend to get it toasted. Cole slaw could use some work as it was bland. A little pricey but I will come back as it is pretty good !
5 of us decided to do a 2pm lunch at Holy Smoke after passing by so many times...and it did not disappoint. Coming from a guy that regularly smokes his BBQ, the Brisket was on point. Held together well, but broke easily when pulled. The Apple wood and honey smoke, the blend of salt & pepper and a good crust to top it all. The Ribs were tender but def not fall off the bone wish it were. Pulled pork was delicious with a slight burn at the end with its rub. The cheddar jalapeno sausages and the sides..the coleslaw, potato salad and the beans = YUMMY!. The sauces and the warm cornbread just added to the experience. Dessert was a pecan tart had the perfect balance of sweet and savory. The staff were amazing. The server, welcomed us with a smile and was ever so cordial. The Pit-master, Chef Murthy, came over to chat with us and get our feedback and was ever so humble..a gem of a man. The group and myself will def visit again. Thanks!
Finally made it to Holy Smoke after driving by numerous times. The quality of their BBQ is excellent. The Brisket was nicely spiced, juicy and the right amount of fat. Ribs were good and flavorful. I like my ribs dry and add my own sauce, so this was a bonus. Mac & Cheese was creamy. Cornbread was warm and tasty. Only complaint is that the cornbread has jalapeño peppers in it which is not stated on the menu. I just picked the peppers out. Our brisket & rib platter was enough for 2 people. The staff were very friendly and helpful in making menu choices. I have been to Memphis and visited many BBQ Joints, a few should come take lessons from Holy Smoke on how to BBQ. Service was friendly and food was very good. We had the platter for 2 which came with brisket, turkey and pulled pork and 2 sides. Everything was very tasty, especially surprising was the smoked turkey. It was so moist and flavorful. The cornbread and coleslaw sides were great too. The only improvement will be some how keep the food hot for longer and also have heated sauces. With all the food laid out on a metal tray, and the cooler temperature in the restaurant the food cooled down very quickly. It didn't help the sauces came from the fridge too. The cold sauce on warm meat didn't make for a pleasant experience. Within 15mims the food was cold too even without the cold sauces.
Stopped here during a snow storm while all the other restaurant’s were closing early - and wow, so happy I did!! The pulled pork sandwich & macaroni and cheese was amazing. They gave me cornbread as well - so kind. I loved the atmosphere and how friendly the staff was. Will definitely be returning with my whole family!
Saw this place while driving by. Stopped in to get some Brisket to try it out. This is the best I have had that I have not smoked myself. Staff was amazing. I have a feeling they will be turning on their Sold Out sign a lot soon. If you like BBQ go to this place! You won’t be disappointed.
First experience was good one, delicious brisket, good sauce .. sadly the only bun option is brioche which i can't have so I had to settle for Texas toast, which wasn't toasted... which then became quite soggy. Otherwise, delicious and ill be sure to stop in again to try their burnt ends and beef ribs when they are on the menu.
Ordered the platter for 2, which includes beef brisket, Turkey and jalapeño cheese sausage and 2 large sides. We chose Mac and cheese and cornbread. The brisket was a lean cut that was melt in your mouth tender. The Turkey was super juicy and moist. Both had a great smoked flavour. The sausages flavour was nice however a bit dry, would have been better if they were juicy. Mac and cheese was super creamy and cornbread had a nice crispy outer shell with a slightly sweet taste. The platter included onions, dill pickles and Texas toast. Overall the bbq was great and I’ll be back to try the ribs.
Great authentic Texas bbq in the heart of Thornhill. Brisket is tender, pulled pork is moist not stringy, mac and cheese has depth in flavour, and the corn bread was on point. Service was friendly and quick, and the restaurant is bright and clean.Food: 4/5
This is as real Texas barbecue as you can get. Brisket was very good, dry ribs and sausages also tasty. Pulled pork and corn bread was nice also. No chicken, but they have turkey. Only one thing missing to complete the picture is trays lined with paper.
