UPDATE: Carmon, the manager of the place, called me in August to discuss my concerns and took up a good hour of my time doing so. He said he would call back a week later to follow up, and there was never a follow-up. Again, not impressed with the service of this place. This place takes advantage of grieving people. They spoke too fast during meetings as a sales tactic and did not explain the options well enough, despite knowing my mom's poor English and state after my dad's sudden death. This was our first ever close loss, and we felt that they did not guide us properly and felt rushed. Additionally, they posted an obituary online without our consent with my dad's wrong death date. This also led other obituary pages to post my dad's obituary with the wrong death date. We found out that there had been an obituary posted with the wrong date a day before the funeral because the insurance company called us to verify my dad's actual date of death. We also ordered jewelry from this place, and the directors assumed what we wanted written on the jewelry. I asked the funeral director when they were going to ask what we wanted in the jewelry but she said that they were already in the making. They were able to write what we wanted on the jewelry on time. They also spelled my mom's name wrong on the pension forms. Overall, this place was careless and wants to squeeze money out of grieving people. Everything was extremely expensive. The directors in charge of my dad's service were Charlene and Bruce.
I wanted to send David / Bruce a private email, but thought it would be better served as a public review of his services. We thank you for your professionalism, sensitivity and delicacy in dealing with our son's death. David / Bruce took the time to answer our emails and phone calls with additional questions about the process and did not pressure us in the slightest to purchase anything additional to our needs. He was pleasant and calm when we finally met in person. My only constructive feedback is the music was not good. It's not a service where you say "I hope I'll be back" but if we ever are in need again, this will be the place we go to. Much love and peace.
At a difficult time Hollyburn was there to provide the support I needed. I felt I could contact them at any time and someone would listen. The service was brief but moving and thanks to Hollyburn much less stressful than I had feared. These are good people providing a vital service.
Charlene and her team showed immense empathy, compassion and professionalism to our family during this difficult time. Just as what she told me at the beginning, " we will take care of everything for you from the beginning till the end" and that was what they did. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts!
