I just completed a 3 Day Bikepacking Trip the Entire Length from Mississippi River to Illinois River and back. Over 200 miles logged. This is just what I was looking for! Many complain about condition of the Trail, I am a Mountain Biker so it's perfect! I don't want easy, smooth pavement! If you are looking to do this on a Racing, lightweight Touring Bike with skinny, smooth tires don't bother! I went through long stretches without seeing a soul, PERFECT! My only complaints are not enough fresh water stops, but I carry a 4 liter water cell in my frame bag, so no big deal! Also, they should allow Boondocking! The trail and channel itself is very exposed to sun, wear sunscreen; you'll get hot quickly during the summer.nnWell taken care of park and very clean. Lots of fishing options. Nice hiking trails. Worth a stop again!

Awesome and quiet bike and walking path along the canal. Wife and I had an awesome peaceful bike ride along the canal. Path was very peaceful and not busy at all, we passed maybe 5 people the entire ride. Awesome place and we will be back :

This is a good location for walking, fishing and there is a visitors center here. It has a playground for the younger kids. The bathrooms are well maintained even for outhouses. There is a shelter with a built in grill and plenty of picnic tables. Always enjoy visiting this location to see the flowers and numerous critters that thrive here.
