Hammes Notre Dame Bookstore

Visited during 20220625 Notre Dame Bill Joel concert day. Well maintained facility, contemporary interior. Products well arranged, grouped and displayed. Cashiers pleasant and courteous. Yes everything sold here has ND logo, was hoping to find some rainwear that wasn't!

More clothing store than bookstore This place is massive. There are so many clothing options, from baby to golfer, to biker. Many different styles, and colors. One lady at the registers was very hrlpful, but I didn't have that same encounter with everyone. It would be nice if they had a clearance section.

If you’re a Notre Dame fan, this place is a wonderland. I have to commend the staff for being super patient and kind, even when the place is overrun with fans and the lines wrap around the store. Everything is well-stocked— I don’t even know how they manage. They’re super friendly and kind.

Visiting the bookstore on the Notre Dame campus is definitely an experience unto itself and worth the trip as a part of a broader visit to the area. I came here recently as part of a trip to South Bend to take in a few ND hockey games over the weekend. What is perhaps most striking about this building is what isn't - in the sense that both the interior and exterior both very closely match the overall aesthetics of most of the buildings on campus. It's neither a negative nor positive to the overall shopping experience, just something worth noting about this place and the campus more broadly. The interior was well kept up and clean throughout. As mentioned in other reviews, much of the space on both floors is devoted to clothing. It is, however, not overly crowded and quite easy to navigate on the whole. My only complaint and a small one at that was I could not find a hockey sweater in my size. The staff were able to help me locate sweaters on the website for the bookstore, so I have future plans to purchase a sweater when they have the style I want I'm my size I'm a big 3XL tall guy, fyi. It's definitely a normal part of visiting the campus to stop by the bookstore to check out the latest apparel. I'll likely stop by again on future trips to South Bend. Stay awesome, Notre Dame.

They changed the store layout since I was there last and it seemed to function much better. Wide selection of everything ND. Well organized. You're sure to find something you like as long as you like the Irish. My only complaint is the price. Seems like many items are marked up 200% just because it has ND on it. But I keep buying stuff so I'm part of the problem...

Many items, well organized displays, fast counter service, but the cost of everything is very high. A nice shirt, over $80.00. Lowest price t-shirt I found was $20.00. Baseball hats- around $30.00 for most of them. I suppose going to a top expensive school, you can probably afford this merchandise. But for the rest of the family or friends who want to support the student, these prices are very prohibitive.

Great bookstore overall! Friendly staff! Credit cards only though, which is a little disappointing since I brought cash for a small purchase on this trip. Easy to get turned around and miss the registers after they moved them. Otherwise, I love browsing the bookstore every trip I make to Notre Dame for a good football or soccer game.

LOVE this bookstore! Two levels of EVERYTHING you can imagine and then some!

The store has been completely rearranged in the most disorganized, confusing, muddled way. The staff is wonderful, helpful, courteous, and pleasant. But on football game days, this new arrangement is ridiculous. Plus, all TV monitors have been removed, so for those of us who like to go to the bookstore during the game, it is no longer a worthwhile trip.

I adored the Hammes bookstore when I visited in 2021 - I bought the highest quality wool scarf and cableknit sweater from Ireland for reasonable prices and their book selection and notebooks were excellent. I visited again in 2022 and was shocked to see the bookstore painfully empty and lacking all of this high quality items from overseas. I’m not an alumni, so I am looking for sweaters and other one-of-a-kind items I can’t find anywhere else. The staff was also younger and less helpful. If this is the way Borders will run it, I’ll be avoiding it in the future instead of making a special stop.
