Hammel Woods - DuPage River Access

This is a quiet and friendly place. It gets a little crazy in the afternoon with all the dogs, so we choose to go during the off hours. It is always clean!

This is our 2nd year spending Memorial Day at Hammell Woods. We drop kayaks in at Eaton Forest Preserve on 135th and float 3-4 hours down the DuPage river. We are able to stop and the Hammel woods access and pull our boats right up to the campground. Its small enough to feel like you are in the middle of nowhere but close enough that you get pizza delivered (which we do) its very private and inexpensive and you can drink here which can be hard to come by in our area. Tent camping only. Have a small dog park. Bathrooms are a 2 min walk away and have always been incredibly clean and cared for. Plenty of parking. Only negative: 3 years ago a friend had 2 kayaks stolen overnight.

Superb place trail walking and adventure run inside to the river and woods.....Take deep breaths for Fresh air .....Oxygen for Life

Peaceful place for a walk, or a hike or a bike ride. Today while riding my bike on the paved trail I discovered a dirt path down to the river with some beautiful views.
