The Halifax Shopping Centre Head Shoppe opened in 1980. We are the largest Head Shoppe salon location boasting 19 hair care stations and 2 esthetic rooms. We have recently moved into our beautiful new location in the mall, and we are conveniently located on the upper level of The Halifax Shopping Centre, next to Sears and the Apple Store. We offer a full range of esthetic services, including nails and waxing, as well as our full service hair salon.

Specializing in Redken haircare, Dermalogica skin care products, and OPI nail care. Now carrying Matrix and L'Oreal Professional as well.

I grew up with terrible experiences getting my hair cut. This is the first place that has made me feel welcome, comfortable and that knows exactly what I want and helps me achieve my hair goals. Anna, my hair dresser, is absolutely amazing! She has taken care of my hair for over the last year and has such a kind soul. The space also has a very positive vibe and you can really tell people enjoy not only being there but working there as well. Thank you guys for all that you do! You are such an amazing team!!

I’ve been seeing Paige for my hair for a number of years now and I’m never disappointed in her work. She takes the time to ensure that I am happy when I leave her chair and is always excited to try something new with me. I called the day before and they were able to squeeze me in for a last minute haircut appointment. Lily was my hairdresser and she is the sweetest! She gave me her own personal opinion with the style I wanted and took her time to perfect my hair. I am soso inlove with how my hair turned out and will definitely rebook with Lily!

I drove in to the HSC from Bridgewater for a hair appt but the hairstylist I booked with became unavailable for reasons out of her control. Nicole C. stepped in so that I could still get my hair cut and she did an incredible job with a tricky request. I don't remember her name but you must have it on record. I was there at 2p on June 22.  I had two photos on my phone with an idea of what I wanted similar to what I have done every summer.  She said she would use clippers or some instrument I associate with men's hair cuts. That never happened before and I have been going to this location since 2014.  She was pleasant but asked so many questions I should have been suspicious,  whereas others have just gone ahead and cut according to the photo with maybe a comment or two. When I paid I realized I had a very junior person which I did not want. But I know how it happened. A month ago I dropped in for a bang trim and she did it. Fine. She wanted me to book my next appointment which I never do in advance but I relented. So I got her again for the full cut. Really disappointed.  I feel lopsided. I'll be wearing a cap or hat all summer.

Sadly was not a great experience this time. I did go in for a larger chop of a cut - about 7 inches off- and I have curly hair.  I trusted my stylist to take the lead, but the cut given did not take my curl texture and shape into account at all. Left with a really awful cut for my hair with shape at all. Really upsetting- easily the worst shaping I have had. I never straighten my hair, so the cut I got absolutely does not work for my life.  I also received a colour- but it ended up being extremely far off from what I requested. It’s insanely dark, flat, and has no dimension to it- I asked for an mahogany towards purple and got an almost black. I’m really upset and disappointed.  I have had nice colours and cuts in the past- but this experience likely means I won’t be going back.

Hannah was professional proficient friendly I left feeling revived relieved and refreshed after my facial ...she generously accommodated the extra things I needed without hesitation I would definitely recommend this salon/ esthetics business to any one looking for friendly and professional service. You will find there are smiling faces who appreciate the needs of their customers and are able to provide the needed service at reasonable cost and lovely results thank you ladies

Worst experience ever . Went to get my hair colour done and  my hair stylist did money highlights which i ended my not liking. I was scheduled to fix it . I went for my appointment and ended up with racism. My hair stylist was sick someone else did my hair . The whole staff was so rude there body language made me so uncomfortable. Instead of washing my hair they wiped it with towel and i went home colour with my hair and stains on my face . The way they seeing me off was very uncomfortable. And don’t think so they would done this all with their community. Everyone should be respected equally and treated fairly.

Going to this place is one the worst experience i have had in a salon. Considering how much i have heard about headshoppe, this one has been terrible. I went in to get a hair colour and the behaviour i had noticed among the staff was extremely disrespectful and derogatory. Their body language was very rude and uncomfortable. I dont want to write this but alot of my friends have been to this place and they have all felt strong sense of racial discrimination against a certain POC. All the comments from POC also reflect the same thing i would recommennd going through it for whoever is reading this. Never going there again. I left even before my service because of there discriminatory behaviour.

Looking for an amazing experience that will leave you feeling like a new person. David Macdonald is the most talented, professional and kindhearted hairdresser/hairstylist you'll ever find. Trust me I've been around the world and still go back to him.
