Dishonest and manipulative agents. I was charged 424 dollars for a simple tax return. No business ownership or anything like that. Even a different agent at a different H&R location thought it was a very high fee and contacted my agent who did my taxes, suddenly he thought it was too high also??? Said they would send me a check and that the manager would contact me, nobody ever contacted me I called about 4 times before I ever got a hold of anyone to tell me what was going on. Finally i contacted her and they said they would send me a check for 25 dollars..really? What a slap in the face. Should've just kept it since they clearly need it more than I do. Such greed. And I'm supposed to be doing cartwheels over 25 dollars? Ridiculous. Don't get your taxes done here because they will rip you off any way they can. Trust me. Go to a private tax accountant who you or someone you know trusts. By far the worst customer service also. Manager was rude and compared the fees to going to the grocery store and asking for them to "give me money back because the grocery bill was too high" ... That is not in any way a comparable scenario. Horrible.

I have had H&R Block on Northland Ave. in Appleton (ask for Mark) prepare my taxes for the past 15 years. During this time I received the heart-stopping letter from the IRS summoning me to an audit. H&R Block stood behind me and helped me prepare the information requested of me for the IRS. Yes, I'll be up front-H&R Block isn't inexpensive-but they are competitive.I have always gotten a pleasing refund and the cost of tax preparation is a deduction on the following years taxes. Bottom line, you get what you pay for and H& R Block is quality assurance.

DONT NOT FILE YOUR TAXES AT H&R BLOCK THEY ARE A SCAM!!!!!! I went to file my 2014 taxes at northland H&R block in March at first I thought it was great I hadn't file taxes in 3 years with no work just cleaning on the side I didn't think I was able to they told me I could an proceed to file my taxes then ask to PREPAR my 2 year back that I did not file I said okay just to see the amount I was looking at. I got a little over 5000 dollars back they TOOK over 2000 dollars from my taxes for the taxes I hadn't even filed yet!!!! I still needed some paper work before I could even back file for the 2 years but they still proceed to take out the money before hand with out my full understanding that it was happening!!! WISH I WAS DONE THERE BUT I'M NOT!!!! After a few emails back and forth with the guy who filed my taxes I told him I was unable to obtain the paper work because my grandmother fell ill and I was out of town I didn't want the taxes filed and asked if I was going to get the money back NO EMAILS!!! Still not done I have yet to receive my state taxes the irs sent me a letter saying I need to send in proof that my children live with me I THOUGHT THAT WAS WHAT I PAID 2000 DOLLERS TO H&R BLOCK TO DO!!!!!! So now I'm out over 3000 dollars and H&R BLOCK HAS YET TO CONTACT ME EVEN THOU THEY TOLD ME TO SIGN A PAPER STATING IF THE IRS CONTACTED ME THEY WOULD HANDLE THE SITUATION NOPE NO EMAIL NO CALL NOTHING IM JUST LEFT OUT TO DRY SO SINGLE HARD WORKING MOMS DONT NOT I REPEAT DO NOT FILE AT H&R BLOCK THEY WILL TAKE A HUGE CHUNK AND LEAVING YOU WONDERING HOW IT ALL HAPPEND!!! EVEN IF THEY SAY GET THE MOST OUT OF YOUR REFUND ITS JUST SO THEY CAN GET THEIR HANDS ON IT AND YOU GET THE SMAILL AMOUNT LEFT OVERS!!!!! THIS IS A TRUE STORY SAME THING HAPPEND TO ANOTHER GIRL SHE ALSO IS STILL WAITING ON HER STATE TAXES AS WELL!!!!!!!

Watch out for this company! I was quoted $200 less to get my taxes done than what I was charged for. Thank God they have the option to walk out if you feel the fee was unfair. And I did not have difficult taxes to do..pretty straightforward forms. This company depends on their name to lure you in, then tries to overcharge you once you are there. Don't go here and save yourself hundreds of dollars!!
