H&R Block

Came in for a simple student tax preparation. Told "it wouldn't be long" and asked to sit. I waited 2.5 hours before being helped. I also was the only person in the office. My simple filing costed me the 69$ plus because they wouldn't honour my student card and took me 4 hours to complete.

It took two weeks for them to complete me and my husbands tax returns. After they finally finished they needed us to come back in to look at a few things, and they said I was going to owe money. I'm a slightly unique situation... I'm an American, and worked in the US last year, but I'm living up here. Apparently an American living in Canada is so rare that none of their tax professionals were trained on how to deal with our taxes. When my husband and I went in to look over our returns, they said I was going to owe the Canadian government almost $1,000 (even though my income was pretty low). After asking them about something I had heard about (the foreign income tax credit), the man looking over our return went and asked someone else, and after spending ten minutes chatting with another tax professional came over and said I was right and that I didn't owe anything! It's a good thing I asked! So after this they submitted our tax returns, and we left. About a month and a half later I received a notice in the mail that there was an issue with my tax return... The people at H&R Block entered the wrong date for when I immigrated to Canada and therefore screwed up my HST/GST. I called them up about two weeks ago and the lady said she would look into it and call me back, but I still haven't heard from her. I'm going to call again today and see if she's figured it out, and if she hasn't I'm going to do it myself. This is frustrating.

The worst ignorant people to ask for tax advice their cash back the same day is not the same day it took two weeks and they lost all my receipts one time plus they never out of all the people I've tried there have never once suggested a deduction that I didn't tell them about their basically totally incompetent don't go there

Not only did the girl mess up on our taxes, and put in wrong phone number and address but the next day when we were told to come back they lost our file.. when they finally found it we were told it was done incorrectly and it had to be redone... and they still charged us full price.. never again!!
