Our server Alex did an amazing job! Food was absolutely delicious and the portions were huge!! My birthday dinner was fantastic! Thank you chef!
Couldn't have been more pleased! We wanted a unique dining experience and were thrilled to find the Groupon the $50 one, not the ones other reviews mention- can't say anything about that, even if it would mean driving 75 minutes from Indiana to make it happen. Having four kids we rarely have quiet, extended meals where you relax and talk and enjoy your fare. We had an 8:00 reservation for two and arrived at 7:55- the table was ready, but it wasn't an ideal seat for us so we asked about being near a window and, wouldn't you know it, we were accommodated with warm, genuine smiles. We read ahead and knew to expect 2-2:30 hours for the entire meal and we loved every moment of that quiet, unhurried time. Some places are so rushed to flip tables you feel like you're just there to eat and move on, not enjoy moments together or make memories. H Prime Chophouse gave us unhurried space to enjoy everything, talk, and slow down with delicious, unique food. The atmosphere is classic and I was so glad there wasn't a single screen in sight outside of the bar on the other side of the lounge. The music was appropriate without being intrusively loud. The table spacing gave us a sense of personal space and time. Hearing about breakfast and touring the property, we immediately were interested in staying a night or two in the future! Our server, Jordan, was outstanding. Attentive without hovering. Personable without putting on airs. Knowledable without sounding rehearsed. We asked for a recommendation and he offered. We inquired of the kitchen and he looked into it. Watching the other staff I'd say they all understood their chef's vision and house desires for the guest experience, but we were impressed with Jordan's execution and approach. The food was fantastic! We started with the mushroom cap appetizer and couldn't believe how well everything worked together. Next was easily the best tomato bisque I've ever tasted and I don't even like tomatoes!, and upgrading to the smoked Caesar was a great, great call. Our wet aged ribeye and NY strip were cooked exactly to our liking and incredibly tender! Coffee was rich and hot. We don't do seafood, so I can't speak to that side of what others have commented on below, but everything we encountered was as good or better than we expected for the price. To top it all off, Owner and Executive Chef Francois was still in house at 10:00 and put together our tableside Bananas Foster himself- that was amazing! We were honored to meet him and could tell it was meaningful to him that we'd enjoyed ourselves. All in all, , even without a Groupon to take the edge off the $$ we'll be back. Every bit worth it.
My son treated us to this place so we could try a dried aged steak. when ordering the waiter said that the meal came with soup & salad. After getting the bill, we realized it was way more than we expected, they charge extra for every little thing, even the sauce to dip your steak in. Our bill was over $60 more because the waiter scammed us into ordering salad & soup acting like it came with the dinner. The lobster bisque soup was so salty, the steak was very bland and fatty, the mashed potatoes were terrible, & the salad was a couple uncut romaine leaves that you had to cut up yourself. AND… it was freezing cold in there. My food was cold after a couple mins of getting it. We heard the waiter using the same line by saying “ the soup & salad comes with the meal”. I wish I would have read the reviews before going. I promise you, you will be disappointed if you go here.
Wish I read the reviews before reading dinner here. Food took over an hour, came out cold. Fancy presentation, terrible, expensive Food. The rooms are beautiful, just don't eat here!Food: 1/5
We chose this restaurant for our special anniversary dinner. The website said that this was an elegant setting with a business casual dress code. However, most of the other guests had on shorts and flip flops and were cashing in their Groupon deals. We arrived on time and were told to wait at the bar. Once seated, we ordered wine and two dinners and asked to have the meals brought one at a time so that we could share, tapas style. Our waitress was accommodating. The lobster bisque was exceptionally good, the salads were fine and we enjoyed the signature wine. That was the end of the positives. Our $85 Crab leg dinner consisted of 3 small 2 inch pieces of crab and two joints, with no drawn butter. Honestly, the entire meal had less meat than one average crab leg from the grocery store. We complained and were offered one free dessert. The steak was OK, but certainly overpriced for the quality. We paid the $250 tab and left a generous tip. No one thanked us for coming, wished us a happy anniversary or said goodbye. We will not be back.
What an absolute disappointment! Arrived Friday Feb 13th at 6:55 for our 7p reservation. After standing in the atrium for 10 minutes, the bartender attempted to help us, but needed assistance. We bought the Surf and Turf Dinner for Four not cheap! even on Groupon which "Includes PER COUPLE a Seafood Tower and Tomahawk Steak. We asked our server what the drinks specials were and she couldn't even tell us what was in them, but said one was Vodka and Champagne. Well, 20 minutes later when they came, it was Cranberry Juice with, maybe, a splash of Vodka. We asked for our waters to be filled 3 times with 2 different servers before, 30 minutes later, they brought water. After roughly 1hr 15 min - they appeared with a large cooked steak to "present before manicuring" - it appeared to be a large NY Strip and we asked about EACH COUPLE getting a TOMAHAWK as advertised and were told "yeah, everyone will get steak"... 20 minutes later, they brought our plates. Each plate had 5 thin slices of steak clearly, they cut ONE steak for all FOUR of us to share... about 10 minutes later, the Seafood Tower came. Since when does a Seafood Tower for FOUR have 3 small rubbery crab legs?!?! 2 tiny lobster tails CUT IN HALF. maybe 4-6 Oysters... some tiny tiny shrimp/scallops that you had to fish thru the ice to find. About a dozen larger Shrimp and half dozen larger Scallops and what seemed like 4 dozen Muscles. BTW, the place was so damn cold, the Drawn Butter solidified within 5 minutes of being on our table. The waitress then made a loud "for us to hear" comment about our table. I then took her aside to let her know how disappointed I was - only to find out she was a Co-Manager!!! Neither manager seemed to care that we were dissatisfied. I eventually talked to the OWNER who couldn't give us ANY resolution that night but took my name, number and email and said he would get back to us after the weekend. That was 10 days ago. I have heard NOTHING! DO NOT BUY THIS SCAM JOB OF A MEAL!!! I could construct a seafood tower for $50-75 using Meijer Seafood and put theirs to shame! They then presented us a bill for almost $700 so they could charge us full tax!!! HORRIBLE service... HORRIBLE staff... MEDIOCRE meal at BEST... BUYER BEWARE!!!
We ordered delivery from here to try out a new to us restaurant and help support another local business. What we received felt as if we had been punk’d. The crab cake was burned and dried out. The lobster bisque was so salty you couldn’t eat it. We also ordered the chicken Marsala which should really be called sour cream chicken. The sauce was mainly sour cream and then if you were wanting more you could grab some from the 1/2 cup of pure sour cream they dumped on top. Next up was the beef stroganoff but apparently they were out of beef because we found two tiny little strips. Again with the sour cream, about 1/3 of the dish was smothered with pure sour cream. We then moved on to the pork chop, hopeful, but it was extremely dried out. The mashed potatoes with it tasted like pure black pepper. We were hopeful the desserts would at least make up for the rest of the disaster. We were surprised when we opened and tasted the chocolate cake that it was not made in house, but rather tasted like a cake you’d get at a grocery store. To finish it all off was the chocolate mousse, one of my favorites. It was awful. There was no mousse at all, but rather it was heavy whipping cream with cream cheese and some chocolate. It tasted nothing like mousse. It was our first and last time eating their food. Overpriced and quality is awful.
I completely understand the endless negative reviews of this place. They will short you every chance they get. Nothing on the menu is honest. Everything is not as described. They carefully organize this place to cheat you.
We were so excited to go to the castle for my husband’s 85 birthday.. we did the wine tasting .. it was fun we went on the tour.. it was fun.. we got to the food.. it was terrible.. a steak for 36$ and you couldn’t even chew and had to spit it out. The waitress was alright but she lied and said soupnand salad came with it.. so ok . The salad was awful.. the soup was great. I drink wine.. it was 10$.. my first glass was a rip off ..I complained.. second glass was great. We were the only people in the room. We waited and waited. I’m so disappointed going here. I got my check it was over 100$ way over. I do not suggest Henderson Castle to anybody. It was old and pretty but a complete rip off. Very unhappy
FELT RIPPED OFF. Came here for a numerous course meal. They counted a palate cleanser as a course. The food was mediocre at best and WAY TOO overpriced. The Groupon for this place is likely the only business they get and that's even expensive.
