My son got delivered last week and we stayed in the postpartum department for two days. All nurses are nice, but I especially would like to praise Ashley. She holds such a 100% responsible attitude towards her work and she is so capable and confident. She can handle any situation properly and solidly. The 5 star is for her. I admire her ability and attitude.
Shout out to RN Alexa who really took very good care of my mom in psychiatry. She actually takes the time to talk with her patients, asks how they are feeling, and is a fantastic listener. Thank you as well to our social worker Elena who worked very hard to help find a residence for my mom to live during a very difficult period in her life. Bless you both!
I was just discharged told I wasn't dehydrated yet my copy of the lab results from yesterday indicate a high red blood cell count. Didn't bother to do a urine or blood test today. They completely forgot about me, hours later someone comes in talking to me about a plan no one told me about. They made me come in two days in a row just for the head of GI in the ER to completely gaslight me. No follow up planned, and there isn't a second GI to get a 2nd opinion from. This hospital just wants to discharge patients. I spoke with a lady coming out of the rooms who was also being discharged while 2 months pregnant and bleeding. Go somewhere else!
My dad was hospitalized and sent to the Jewish because its considered the "best" hospital for heart surgeries. He had open heart surgery on the 5th of July 2022, then without doing any physio or walking with him and knowing his history of smoking/overweight and living on the 3 floor. They discharged him on the 15th of July. 2 days prior to being discharged, he had a blood transfusion. Then he passed away on the 19th of July, 4 days after being discharged because they didn't want to keep him in the hospital because they needed the bed for covid patients.. I lost confidence in this hospital and if anything ever happened to me, I don't want to be transferred to this hospital. AND to make matters worse, they called me today to ask how my father was doing. Even though my mom called they hospital 2 weeks after he passed away to let them know he passed away. Horrible hospital!!
Honestly, I am very grateful that this hospital exsist, and I had nowhere near a bad experience with them. My mom had an emergency surgery as they were the first to admit her, and typically saved her life as she was in a terrible condition. The doctors and nurses there were amazing, and as someone who has very high anxiety in hospitals, the nurses were very kind and helped me calm down even as a visitor. Very thankful that the staff at this hospital exist, thank God.
Lots of space and lots of equipment and massive triple waiting rooms very new sites but Dr.s are mostly residents and students or very Confused who work for experience collection. Going there feels entering to a torturing place. Still better than MGH. They never pick up the phone when you are transferred to any Dr. or the secretary. NO answering machine or defective one even some departments have it working but even after 20 messages they never call back. In 2022 patiance of covit and non covit were put all together in the parking mangled together none fallowed the protocols. I ran away from the hospital. So unfriendly and rude. Just don't go there or go there and see what I mean.
Emergency patient here. I waited 8 hours straight before a doctor could see me. Vending machine not working properly BTW. Doctor has been nice though, he has my sympathy. Put in place a "Registre de doleances" and make it available to patients by placing it at the desk at the main entrance, let people know about it, so they can write down their feedbacks / suggestions.
Patient room photographs are from the Herzl Clinic, which is within the Jewish General Hospital. The JGH is huge! I visited on a Saturday morning. Covid19 compliance was in effect despite most clinics and outpatient offices being closed and locked up for the day. This is a hospital with an efficient, friendly staff; the Herzl Clinic itself was impressively clean compared to other hospital clinics. I became quite lost wandering the vacant labyrithine passages looking to get a hospital card but everyone offered to help this old lady. The staff are kind, bilingual, and compassionate.
I've been trying to book an appointment here for months in ophthalmology referred by my dr. as my only option but they don't answer the phone and don't return your call if you leave a message. I did not enjoy my last ophthalmology appointment there pre-pandemic; waited half the day for my appointment in a seedy area of the hospital and then the dr repeatedly jammed a popsicle stick in my eye socket high tech stuff!. My only other option is to go private...
Shame on JGH. Posted May 2022 update December 2022 The only good thing in JGH is Kosher food which they escape often and just say sorry next meal will be in few hours.. 1-I was brought to the hospital because of a fall at 9pm. After triage they told me to wait. I asked for a painkiller form any& all of their counters but I was told a Dr has to see me first. They said if I had any broken part I would not be able to keep quiet. At 11.30 pm in snow at -20c I walked to st-Mary's hospital. In 10 minutes a doctor came to triage and ordered pain killer. In 30 minutes I had x-rays done at 1.30 am 2 Hebrew speaking nurses came to tell me not to be afraid they have to put me under general anesthesia to put the broken bones back in place. At 4.30am they woke me up, called a transport and sent me home at 5.15 2- At JGH dentistry department a lousy resident under supervision of another lousy " dentist" filled my front tooth with a very dark color filling that looks I've been smoking heavily and never washed my teeth. After taking thousands$ from me they said I have not spent enough money previous year therefore I am not a priority. Last time they told me they have to extract all my teeth and use denture. I request to see the supervisor. She said, she doesn't let the resident to fill my tooth nor she will do it or allow anyone there to do it. In objection I left. In another dental clinic not far from the hospital a doctor filled my tooth and corrected all the other problems except the mess with my front tooth that was done by JGH. because I would then get to more serious complications. In 2018 at this department 2 residents extracted 6 of teeth which I have kept till today. I showed them to another doctor who said they look healthy. He said they could treat them by a good cleaning and help them to stay solid by antibiotic mouthwash and regular after care. But doing that cost 200$ extraction cost 350$ each and is much faster and easier. I understood to make more money by doing less work they have extracted my teeth. 3- At JGH ENT Dep. few months after my last visit, I asked for an appointment since my symptoms got worse, they told me I was a scheduled for an operation on my vocal cords in 2021 without notifying me. I had to wait few months to get an appointment. I waited 2.5 hours for a doctor, on the day of my appointment. After a nurse started complaining for such long delay for my doctor, another ENT "doctor " came. He asked me how the operation was? Obviously he had not even looked at my file. By putting the camera endoscope in my nose he said nothing is wrong and I was sent for pulmonary dep. and x-ray. They said they will call me later. After a month I called them myself. They gave me an appointment to see a doctor. Another 7 weeks waiting. Meanwhile I went to an ENT clinic in EST of Montreal and an excellent doctor took his time to read and investigate in to my records in health Canada website. He allowed me to see the screen. With the camera in my nose. We saw my left vocal Cords were paralyzed. He found out that the same report was in JGH so he sent me back to JGH for revaluation and he emailed my original doctor but he never replied. Later I went to pulmonary Dep. the doctor said the x-ray is fine and coughing has not killed anyone. Few days after doctor Hirsch had prescribed Nasonex and Alversco they called me for a phone appointment with Dr. Sakr, telling me was very important but he never called. I have called them many times and left messages since they never answer the phone. As well I asked my Pharmasist to fax them that my symptoms are worsening plus I have more coughing, sore throat and chest pain after using the medications. They never replied. I have so many bad experience with this Hospital that I can write a newspaper. I would never go there even if I drop dead. JGH is a cartel. They use foreign students and instead of payments they foll them with "Canadian experience" papers. They get donations and take more grants every year from government which comes from taxpayers.
