Absolutely the worst doctors office I have ever visited. Staff were all friendly and inviting, ensuring me that the recommended added services were not going to cost any more while I was at my annual wellness visit. I received a bill for over $100 though, and called thinking it was a mistake. Apparently, when the doctor asks "Is there anything else you would like to talk about?" and you spend two minutes discussing other minor topics, they feel the need to add a huge charge to the bill. That two minute conversation took away the "preventative" status of the appointment. I feel that this doctor's office makes money their priority and will not work with their patients in any way. 100% would not recommend to anyone.
Because of the pandemic and moving I had missed my yearly check up and was nervous about seeing a new provider and filling out health paperwork for the first time on my own especially being trans, but coming here all the front desk staff was very welcoming and helpful through the process answering any questions I had in a clear way. I had an appointment with Jerrica and she was wonderful! Very welcoming and informing and made the space incredibly comforting for a doctors office/visit. She was personable and spoke to me directly pretty much the entire time. She was very quick to give me multiple resources for my needs and made clear every action her and her staff were taking during my visit. One of the best visits I've had, would highly recommend it to anyone whose LGBTQ+.
I absolutely love GVSU Family Health Center. I have never received better care! I receive so many services in one building making things convenient. The staff is incredibly caring & understanding. They actually listen to you and help. Very fast and convenient scheduling!
I’ve been taking my kids here for 8 years. They let all of their good people go and left with junk. My son is ADHD and has autism, he’s on meds and he’s been without them for months because they claim they called them in but my pharmacy, that I’ve used for years, says they didn’t. Then they refused to call them in because they said they already did! So I try to transfer care to a better office go fill out all the forms and they don’t send any of my children’s information over! New office can’t do anything and I can’t seem to reach anyone about it. One NP tried to push adderall on my son who’s 8!and when I refused is when his current adhd meds were held from himthat’s how I feel at least. I will be putting in a complaint with a medical board as well. Taking away my sons medication that helps get him thru ABA therapy and drastically helps in his schooling is WRONG! Can’t seem to get ahold of anyone at the office now and I’m highly upset. DO NOT go here.
WORST doctors office. They have screwed billing and insurance up so many times that I owed over 1000 dollars for two physicals and some meds. It’s been over a year and guess who has been sent to debt collector, and now there’s nothing I can do because “they can’t recharge insurance because it’s out of their hands now”. And when I called to have them send paperwork to the debt collector they wanted to charge me to do that, because it’s only free if they send it to another doctor. Uh, HELL no, you’ve already screwed up so many times why would I let you charge me again!? I’ve also have problems where nobody will answer the phone and I’ll leave a message to reschedule an apt and they will send me paperwork saying “you’ve missed an apt without notifying us, next time there will be consequences.” Please don’t visit here if you expect the secretaries to know what they are doing, or if you don’t want to go though a billing nightmare.
This clinic is a hidden gem. The staff, nurses and Jamie Hendricks specifically, are the most caring and thorough medical staff one could hope for. They develop relationships with their patients and offer so much support and great medical advice.
I had a really upsetting first patient appointment and would not recommend this center for any transgender or LGBT patients. When I entered, my doctor was really hasty and didn't attempt to get to know me - she immediately began referring to my chart instead of speaking to me about my medical history, and I don't know why, but her tone was accusatory when running through my medication list. When finding out I was a transgender man due to the testosterone prescription on my list, she seemed flustered. For those that don't know, prescribing testosterone injections is like prescribing Ibuprofen for pain - it is an incredibly common, well-reviewed, and safe practice, and I have been on this medication for over 3 years now with no complications. It is critical to my care. However, they couldn't provide me with this because the prescribing physician, who she said can be a bit old-fashioned, did not approve it. This has never happened to me before. To not be able to prescribe testosterone to a trans patient in 2021completely demonstrates that this health center is not prepared or willing to serve transgender patients. This isn't even the most upsetting aspect of my appointment, but for the sake of this review and my privacy I'm leaving it at this. I don't want other trans patients to experience what I did - If you're LGBT, consider somewhere else. Cherry Health also takes Medicaid and has been great.
I found a primary care doctor here and she is very through and nice! I had a great experience here overall. :
One of the worst places to go. You sit and wait forever. The front desk staff is terrible. They have maybe 2 good nurses. The head of the place is a complete idiot. Don't know how he got his job
