Bought ghee Mysore pak. It was creamy in texture shapeless. I liked it but not sure if its worth the hype. They accept only cash and you will have to wait for atleast 15 minutes to buy. Staffs are not much friendly.
The place has it's own history ! The big shop was closed and the small shop next to it was opened. Exclusive experience for sweet lovers. Bought some authentic and the original Mysore Pak . 1 kg of Mysore pak is 600rs, Would advice to carry only cash as no other Payment is available.
The shop is definitely not worth the hype. The sweets in the display might look neat with attractive lighting but note down the place next to the shop where they store the sweets. We have lively noticed rats running in the place they have stored the sweets. The vendor is very rude in behaviour as well.
Ok kind of sweet. As most of the people said . Owner is very rash and not customer friendly. they are throwing the money .. between staff. No Google pay phone pay no you. Only cash. God knows about tax. Leave it, as it is none of my business. Mysore pak costs 600/- per kg. Which is quite expensive for that kind of store and service. Just once a try product.
While the fresh and hot Mysore Pak tastes amazing the Hygeine is horrible. Look at the way they keep the fresh Pak before you eat it!!! The shops always full, the owner is friendly, but nothing on earth can beat Hygeine.
It is a small store situated in the corner of the old market area. Can be easily spotted by the board n the crowd thronging both openings at the corner store. Went there only for their signature mysore pak which has a legacy of its own. They offer 3 varieties of mysore pak - good old dry/hard one with lot of holes n powdery in form, moist one with ghee n the special one prepared with both ghee n milk. Bought the ghee n special one for 600 per kilo. Loved the ghee pak, it was soft n delicate n reminds one of a bit older version of mysore pak where ghee was used adequately but not bathed in ghee like the one in venkateshwara sweets, bengaluru n was mildly sweet which lends it a unique taste. Had to almost wait for 20 mins to buy the sweets because of the crowd in the afternoon. In the meantime couldn't resist gazing at the other retro style sweets n ended up buying the doodh pedha which turned out to be very good. It reminded me of the ones I used to have in my childhood. However those who don't have the sweet tooth might find the pedha to be sweeter than their liking.
MAHARAJA MUMMADI KRISHNARAJA WADIYAR, THE 19th-century king of South India’s Mysore Kingdom, was bored. He had a serious sweet tooth, but he’d grown tired of the creations of the royal kitchen. He told his cook, Kakasura Madappa, to create something new. In response to the directive, Madappa created a fudge-like concoction called Mysore pak. More than a century later, Madappa’s descendants continue to sell Mysore pak from their Mysore-based shop, Guru Sweet Mart. Many small stores across South India sell mediocre Mysore pak that can be either too wet or unpleasantly chalky, Guru Sweet Mart’s version is the antidote to uninspiring imitators: soft, with a toasty ghee smell and a lusciously melty mouthfeel. It is also an instant sugar rush you will feel in your veins.
