This is a great little rustic campground on a lake. The only complaint I have is, we were told not to bring fire wood from outside. And they don't sell wood on site. So we still had to go buy wood from an outside vendor and bring it in. Other than that it is a great little state campground and we highly recommend!
You are not going to get any more rustic than this when it comes to camping. There is water available but it needs to be manually pumped by hand, the old frost free style pump. The dock to Green Lake is overrun with Lilly pads so you will struggle to launch a boat there but it is possible to use a kayak. Fishing is decent once you get to open water. The reason I am giving it 4 stars and not 5 is because the outhouse needs to be pumped more frequently.
My Husband & I use to go to this camp ground all the time. It's the only campground in that area that is rustic that we just Loved. Went there every weekend. Sometimes for a couple weeks at a time. Camp Rangers very friendly. They did a great job at maintaining the park. Always checked on everyone.
Large sites, most of them fairly open to the neighbor which can be perfect for groups. The sites along the water are very nice, I think site 8 may flood during rain. I enjoy site 3, 5, 6. Lots of PI but that's all Southeast Michigan. Rangers come by in the morning. There is reservation or self check in -- call the number at the self registration station before setting up camp if you're going that route and they will tell you what sites are opened.
Nice rustic campground. About 25 official campsites, all rustic. Plus a rentable yurt. Each site has a fire ring and picnic bench. They have a water pump and two vault his and hers toilets in the campground - around site 8 and the yurt. About a quarter of the sites are on the lake. The campground is about a half mile from the Waterloo-Pinckney trail. There is an external parking site on the trail, right outside the campground. Easy access right off highway 52. Not sure if it's official, but i've parked there 10-12 times for overnight trips between Silver Lake Pinckney headquarters and Green Lake or Green Lake to The Pines Campground and back. It's 12-14 miles from Silver Lake, 7 miles from Blind Lake, 11.5 from the Pines. Great campground if you're ok with rustic camping no electricity, water, sewage on site.
The 25 sites are large and spread out and some of them are secluded. Each site has a metal fire pit, picnic table, and plenty of space for several tents. The camp ground has 3 pit toilets, which were pretty clean considering. Spots 3, 5, and 7 overlook the lake.
Pretty good camp ground. It's semi rustic as there is no electric hookups, running water, showers, etc. There are a couple out house style toilets and a well water hand pump that you can use. The lake is very weedy and not to deep in most spots. There is no beech area for swimming and it's not a good fishing spot unless you go out on a canoe out kayak, even then it wasn't a great fishing spot. DNR rolls through the camp ground quote often which is good or bad depending on your outlook. The sites are pretty large but only a few of them have a wilderness/woods type of feel. The others are quite open and have one or two trees. All camp sites from what I can tell have a picnic table and fire ring. At camp site #8 there is a raccoon that is pretty cold not aggressive so far and will walk right into the camp while you are there so keep your food well kept. This is my fifth time at this camp ground and I enjoy coming here. The sites are first come, first serve and cannot be reserved with the exception on a yurt which can be reserved. The crowds vary. Sometimes the place is quiet as can be. Other times there can be lots of kids or groups of people out drinking and hanging out.
Very beautiful location right on Green Lake. The campground itself is in the middle of the woods but M52 is just the other side of the lake so the traffic noise is fairly loud. There is no manned check in and no firewood for sale, I had to go fairly far to find some.
Really nice rustic campsite place. It was a busy weekend but it still was very nice and relaxing if you choose the right campsites.
Love this quite camp ground. Private sites and a great hike. Please remember to keep your dog in a leash.
