What a beautiful and quiet place to go for a hike! Went on a sunny Sunday afternoon and didn't see a single other person the whole time! Trails (the many miles of them) are pretty well kept, and terrain is pretty easy. Short drive from the cities. No cost to park or access trails as a hiker - I seriously don't understand why this isn't a popular area, but I am not going to complain! The dog and I loved it!!

The trails here are beautiful! We went in min-August so the forest felt humid and tropical. There was moss everywhere and it was very hilly so you could see deep down into the forest from the walking paths above. Definitely a great spot for hiking and forest dwellers.

Great hiking along the scenic St. Croix River. There are a few primitive campsites (which require a free permit). Moderate terrain as the trail alternates between uplands and river bottoms. Very lightly used but still maintained (especially south of Highway 70). Great place to get away for a while!

Equestrian campground is well maintained. Trails are well groomed, not very many bugs. Trails are soft, shoes not needed. The trails are not challenging and scenery is pretty but nothing too exciting.

We camped here in the St. Croix Campground for a weekend. The spots are lovely and spacious with each spot being a decent distance from your neighbors. Just a comment that we reserved one of the two available electric sites only to find out when we arrived that these were "handicap only" sites. The park ranger stopped by but didn't give us any trouble over it. We just felt bad about it and wish that it had been clearer on the reservation site that these were handicap spots. So just be aware that there aren't any standard electrical sites here. We also had an issue with bugs...they were incredibly bad. Definitely bring your bug spray and spray frequently. There were a lot of ticks, mosquitoes, horse flies, wasps, and bees. Because of the bugs (and rain) we spent most of the trip inside the camper and didn't get to check out many of the trails out here.
