My daughter, my sister and I participated in a two-day art retreat with Gordon at his Ottawa studio. The entire experience exceeded our expectations! Gordon was a wealth of information and patiently guided us through his process, making us feel comfortable to ask questions and explore techniques. Above all we had fun, enjoying every minute of the retreat. We would highly recommend this retreat, regardless of participants previous art experience.
Tried to drop in for a little friendly chat with Phil Edmond, the owner. The hours of operation , displayed on the door glass indicated the galley should have been open 4 hrs ago. I was not the only one standing on the sidewalk hoping to visit. What I really wanted was to talk, again, to Phil about the $400 his gallery owes my business for breaking a patio lantern this summer & my fixing it upon his request. Be VERY careful in your dealings with this person as he doesn't appear to be a good, honest individual.
We bought a beautiful painting and met the painter during the exhibition in October 2022. The painting was packed very well for transport by plane. Thank you!
In October 2021, eight ladies joined Gordon Harrison at his lakeside home in the Laurentians. A lovely spot with a treacherous flagstone stairway of varying heights & no hand rails - which could be added to the already enchanting vista, when going down from the Studio to the Main house. The main house is the location where "relaxation" times are enjoyed prior to the amazing meals that are created and served by a delightful and an absolutely enchanting chef, named Joanne. . Thus a warning to anyone with hip, feet, knee or balance issues - think long and hard prior to booking this retreat. Gordon Harrison is an amazing artist and wonderful teacher of his style. I was thrilled to be part of the 8 students learning his method of oil painting. However, when our bookings were made, months earlier in the year, I was ensured by Gordon's partner Phil that a suite would be given to my friend and I. Considering that there are only 2 in-house suites available, this becomes a difficult promise to keep, especially, when there are 8 participants, paying over $2,000.00 each for the 3 days there. Needless to say 4 of the participants ended up in the Garage. Two individuals were assigned to the lower floor, sleeping in single beds with a chair acting as a catchall - no tables, no lamps, no doors, no draperies over a large picture window that overlooks the driveway, a bathroom off the studio and no heat as it was "forgotten" to be turned on until the day / night after arrival. The second pair of the "garage" group, suffered no doors, told no shoes were to be worn on the stairway or floors, endured an unusual bathing solution, had no where to place their changes of clothes most individuals do NOT like living out of a suitcase - although they did have consistent heat. All 4 of these participants were to endure trying to sleep with the smell of drying oil paintings permeating through their environmental space. The Studio was on the main level, attached to the garage. Again with no doors thus allowing noxious fumes to be inhaled by the 4 unlucky participants
Delicious moroccan food I suggest you to try it especially moroccan pastilla and royale plate for couple or family members with a good traditionnel music vibe .
The owner of the galley is an absolutely amazing human being. Would highly recommend to anyone interested in some excellent art and great customer service.
Decent place ,proactive team.
Beautiful Gallery, Great Canadian Landscape Artist.
We had a small intimate wedding at the gallery. Even though the wedding party and guests were only 7, we wanted the day to be unique and special. Phil the gallerist was so delightful to work with while planning the event. Phil was there to help us set up and even stood in the back during the ceremony. Later that afternoon at a small reception. The officiant said, "Phil really made the day special!" We all agreed. Thank you, Phil and Gordon for allowing us to have our wedding in your beautiful gallery. The day was magical!
