Golden Sands Restaurant is an excellent choice for dim sum. The portions were large and generous, with dishes that were fresh and full of flavour. Everything tasted well prepared and satisfying, making it a very enjoyable dim sum experience.nnThe atmosphere was great—lively yet comfortable—and added to the overall enjoyment of the meal. Service was excellent and truly top notch: attentive, efficient, and friendly throughout.nnOverall, Golden Sands delivers quality food, great portions, and outstanding service. A fantastic spot for dim sum that’s well worth returning to.
The crispy shrimp roll absolutely stole the SPOTLIGHT. Crunchy outside, juicy shrimp inside, perfect bounce yk the kind of dish that makes you pause mid-conversation and just nod in respect. The rice roll wrapping it is thin and delicate 10/10 contrast.nBeef tendon & tripe, plus chicken feet are decent but kinda mid. Texture’s on point: soft, tender, melt in your mouth type but flavor wise is meh, felt like they whispered the seasoning in from across the kitchen. Maybe they’re trying to go easy on the MSG, but a little extra umami wouldn’t hurt.nBBQ puff pastry: nice but a little too buttery for me. Like croissant level buttery. Could’ve put more filling felt like I had to go on a mini expedition to find it in the center. But texture wise, incredible. Layers so light and flakynEverything else are solidly good. Nothing mind-blowing but nothing tragic. Just dependable dim sum comfort the kind that doesn’t make headlines but still leaves you happy and full
Came here for dinner with my parents and my family. This was the 2nd time we tried to eat here - it was a full house last time and so this time I had made reservations. It was again another packed house - all tables in use; I think a wedding reception or something on one side and baby shower on the other. It was quite lively and loud but could still barely hold a conversation. Despite all that service was great and food was hot and tasty. They have their own parking lot with lots of spaces. Street parking if needed as well.nnFood was really good. We started with the Fish Maw and Crab soup. If you have read any of my reviews that soup is a family favourite. It was very flavourful - no leftovers. We also tried the Salt n Pepper squid - it wasn't stringy and was really good as well. Next was Peking Style porkchop which is my favourite - it was really good. Family likes steamed fish so got the Ling Cod - it was good but I think the cut was near the end so had lots of bones. I suggest asking for a different cut next time. My daughter loves egg plant so go the Egg Plant hot put - it had a kick to it which was nice. Lastly, we ordered the Beef Flat noodle which was also really good.nnIt was great to finally come here and it was really good experience. We read that they do dim sum so will have to come back to try that.
One of the best Chinese restaurants in the city! All dishes were made with good intention, lots of flavour, and great quality. Not too greasy, breading and meat ratio is just right and balanced. Service size is big for the family. We fell in love with their rendition of the HongKong Baked Pork Buns. Salted egg shrimp and Golden Sands chow mein was amazing too! Weekends are always full so plan ahead. Parking is limited.
This was a great Chinese restaurant in Calgary. I was surprised to find such a great restaurant there. It tasted delicious. This was a family style dinner with 10 courses and all of them were so yummy.nnI cannot remember any of the dishes were bad. We had 9 adults and had lots of left overs to take home too.nnCall ahead for their 10 course meal.
