Golden Hen Cafe

Horrible, horrible horrible!!! My husband and I visit galena often and enjoy trying all the restaurants..... but had the worst experience at the GOLDEN HEN. Very dirty! Watched the waitress take coffee cups off the table and put them on the tray with the clean ones and the manager stood by the kitchen and ate with his fingers the reached over to move the plates waiting to go out, as We watched our food sit at the counter for at least 8 mins and get cold while the waitress played on her phone. When we made a complaint that it was cold we were told, OH THERE'S NOTHING WE CAN DO BUT TAKE OFF A CUP OF COFFEE OFF YOUR BILL. We love the town of Galena and always recommend places in this gorgeous town but the GOLDEN HEN IS THE WORST RESTAURANT EXPERIENCE WE HAVE EVER HAD!

The potato in my skillet was cut-up crinkle cut frozen french fries. Only good thing was the orange juice maker that took whole oranges and make the juice. That contraption was awesome. Next time I'll try a waffle. My husband had one and it looked really good.

Great food selection; breakfast is offered all day and you get a large portion for your money! They also have freshly-squeezed orange juice.

Stopped for breakfast. It was GREAT! Service was excellent,food was very good and the place is well ran. Get the orange juice FRESH!!

Full menu. Headed here for breakfast. Not disappointed. Have table, booth, and counter seating. Didn't get the fresh orange juice only because hadn't had coffee. Good service. Prices only slightly higher than average, but worth a spot on Galena's main street.
