Gold Penny Restaurant

Ordered delivery and it was delicious. Portion size was great. We bought 3 entrees for 2 people and it will probably last 4 meals each! I don’t know what the restaurant looks like inside, but the foods delicious

Pretty average. Some things on the plate were very good pork fried rice but the beef was kind of gross. Broccoli was good.

Don't be surprised if you show up and think that the place is abandoned. It's dusty, service doesn't really exist here, the prices are the same as anywhere, and it feels like im sitting im a garage, and the staff-i tjough they were homeless people. So... and the food, its what you would get anywhere for fast food chinese.

This was a really nice treat as I usually buy myself one meal per week and I was pleasantly surprised with the great service and great food. The man on the phone who helped me was very friendly and helped me order my green beans and beef chow mein with no MSG and it was quite tasty. I couldn't stop myself from overeating. The prices were very reasonable and they said it would be ready in 20 minutes and it was ready in only 15 minutes. Well done Gold Penny!

What a horrible difference changing owners makes. I have been a loyal customer since 1985 which makes me a customer for 34 years. Had always loved the food and the prices. The owners apparently changed 2 years ago, the service was below standards. The waiter/cashier had to bring an alternate beer as 2 of the beers they advertised were out of stock and placed a bottle opener on the table for me to open my own beer. The food was Luke warm even if it was ordered on a hot plate and not that good. I won't return. Too bad they lost a customer since 34 years.

They give too much rice in the make your own combo and not much of anything else.

My family and I have been coming here for years. The chinese food is awesome!!! I will drive 40 mins just to order take out. The inside of the restaurant and area is not the greatest, but I always just pick up my food to go anyways. I would have given it 5 stars if the customer service was a bit better. The man that takes orders at night can be rude at times. The waitresses that work there around lunch time and early evening are great there though.

I ordered a plain noodles with no vegetables with my order and a chicken chow mein arrived. Totally understandable. I called the restaurant to explain and they were really rude about the whole thing. Kept claiming it was my error. Eventually they offered that I come down to the restaurant and collect the replacement noodles because their driver was busy. I said this wasn't an option hence why I ordered delivery in the first place. They said they would call the driver and hung up. I had to ring back after 15 mins of not hearing anything and was told that they didn't know when the driver would be able to drop over my noodles. I've ordered from here a few times in the past. The food nice but poor customer service

Okay, I never go out of my way to write reviews for places. But this place holds a special place in my foodie heart! I have been frequenting this establishment throughout my 16 years of living in Vancouver and I absolutely LOVE their food. Even after moving to West Vancouver I still find myself returning for a dish of their steamed chicken and salted fish fried rice. It's the perfect comfort food for that late night studying sesh.

Cannot confirm the food. The problem arose from ordering online with them. The order online went through just fine and I was told it was confirmed. Upon waiting an hour for the food, I called to make sure everything was okay, only to find that the restaurant hadn't actually confirmed the order. Instead of calling me to tell me this, the person on the other side of the phone brushed it off as the online ordering's fault. If you're willing to brush away responsibility for a simple phone call, what else are you willing to brush aside also?
