The best part about this place was the lake and how close we were to it. They had good activities such as the canoes and kayaks as well as the game rentals. The part that could use some work were the rooms. Upon checking in we were told that they didn't have enough staff to clean the rooms, but then my next thought would be: wouldn't you only open enough rooms for the amount of staff that you have to run the rooms and clean them? The rooms were not very clean, the rugs inside the rooms were quite dusty and I would know since I'm allergic to VERY dusty places. The couch was very stained and smelled like urine and the sink was quite clogged. To top it off the person at the front desk had a bit of attitude when conversing with us.
I spent 7 days for busines here in an "A" room, which is essentially a large 1 bedroom apartment with a jacuzzi tub with mirrored walls in the bedroom. Full size dining roo table, couches, balcony, large bathroom, fully equipped kitchen with enough for 4 place settings and laundry shared with he adjacent unit. Really nice and cozy. Everything was very clean upon arrival and although they don't have overnight staff, I called in advance and they accommodated a late check-in. Nearby activities: Dock right across the road with a tiny little beach area. Walkability: Great area for forest walks but everything is far so you absolutely need a vehicle to get around anywhere. Food & drinks: Nothing on-site or nearby. You need a vehicle to get around.
Excellent RCI timeshare exchange locations. Lakefront view is amazing and there’s a fire pit for after sunset fires. About 10 minutes from the town centre where most items can be purchased.
We have been going up here every year for more than 10 years now and it is a nice place for families. Beautiful views of the lake and spacious rooms. We just miss Gaye…. Wonderful manager who greeted us for many years and made our stay so wonderful with her welcoming personality and always kind gestures. She made this place feel like a second home. After her passing, new management has taken over and we are still getting used to them even after several years. Not as welcoming and they don’t seem to care much about the guests. If you call, sometimes you will get a nice person and sometimes you will get a rude person….. I guess it all depends on her mood that day. Anyways, great place to stay in summer and winter!
Overall good features with it for canoes, kayak, paddle board and boats. Definitely need a pool, in addition to the lake. Overall good service received by GM Joanna and her team, who made it a memorable experience.Rooms: 3/5
Cottage country! A great place to rest and explore the area. Lots of outdoor activities here. The location itself is fully equipped with a kitchen. It's a place we enjoy and will return to again.Rooms: 3/5
With many Covid measures in place to travel afar this spring, it was easier to go to Haliburton Heights for our family vacation. This was our first stay there, renting a studio unit and two 1-bedroom units that were very spacious and had a fireplace & jacuzzi. This ideal location had quiet surroundings and many nearby hiking trails to explore. The towns of Haliburton and Minden warmly welcomed tourists. Initially we had concerns regarding negative reviews from previous vacationers but after a call to the general manager, Joanna, she alleviated any worries before we arrived. We were happy with our recent stay. Housekeeping adequately cleaned our units and stocked up supplies ready for occupancy. Management is making the right decision to restore this aging resort. It is a work in progress. With Covid lockdowns, they have had difficulties getting parts to readily repair dishwashers in some units. However, there was plenty of dish detergent provided. Sadly, Haliburton Heights has to tolerate with an abandoned inn next door which is not affiliated with them. After watching the HGTV series, Island of Bryan, our family was fascinated with this property site and see so much potential for it. A final comment, it does not benefit either Haliburton Heights or frustrated vacationers if concerns are expressed after the fact in a review. Issues should be addressed with the front desk during a stay.
Very spacious, clean rooms that accommodated our accessible needs for an enjoyable family vacation. We had four different units and the family had fun kayaking, SUP and walking in the area. The kitchen was well stocked with accessories and the BBQs were well maintained and worked better than our Weber at home. We were able to get hubby's wheelchair to the dock with a little effort but doable and chat in the warm weather. Only thing that would make it a five star experience would be a roll in shower for hubby's wheelchair but we'll definitely come again and can't wait to plan the next family vacation at Haliburton Heights. Thank you Joanna and HH team!
Came here with my kids and a friend and her kids, we were suppose to have 2 rooms and only ending up having one. We asked for another room and were told they were full no rooms available so I rented a room at a near by hotel but spent days together at this place and my friend stayed here later to find out from another person staying there that she asked for more time to stay and got a room so the lady manager didn't want to give us because we had kids I assume. I would not recommend this place for families with children, website says child friendly but everyone will complain and be knocking on your door for kids making noise being kids not to loud, we spent most days outside. Manager lady will yell at your kids if she thinks there doing something not to her liking. Neighbors complain if you do the laundry. They have a playground, canoes, and pedal boats to use for free and nice views of the lake but was told this place is more for seniors and adults to relax not for kids.why does website say child friendly. The staff is not friendly and very rude. Would not recommend this place for families.
Stayed here Feb 2022. Room was nice albeit small with few amenities. We have traded through RCI to many locations. This was our first time in a "studio" and the first time the accommodations had no where to cook a meal. The description when booking made no mention of this. Luckily we brought an air fryer. Our business is working with hotels/B&B's with COVID protocols to help ensure the safety of their guests. Management appeared to be concerned and following the local guidelines. Surfaces were clean and looked to be sanitized between guests, but the filters in the A/C unit were horrible, I mean not cleaned in months we teach our customers to ensure this is done between guests every time, as airborne cross-contamination of COVID is a real concern. There isn't much benefit in sanitizing surfaces when the air is potentially contaminated from past guests. We cleaned ours before un-packing our belongings. When I brought this to the attention of the cleaning staff she just blew me off saying it was "up to the maintenance person". Hopefully management will read this and ensure the cleaning staff to do this every time. It is obvious that this is not nearly the priority of the maintenance fellow as it should be.
