Story

General Appliances is one of Alberta's largest independent appliance dealers. As a family-owned and operated business, we take pride in our friendly, small-town service and our competitive prices on both luxury and value-priced products.

For years, outstanding service has been our hallmark. Our customers choose us for the extras they won't always find at 'big box' stores: prices that include local delivery, a large inventory of in-stock items, and owner-operators who go the extra distance to ensure you're satisfied with your purchase.

Our History

General Appliances was founded in 1972 as General Repairs and Sales. Owner Simon Leenstra operated the business in various locations in Lacombe up until 1993, when Peter and Trudy Kuipers purchased the operation at its main street location.

In 1999, the owners decided to expand, selling the downtown store and building a much larger showroom at the current site. In 2008 Peter and Trudy handed the reigns over to the current owners (their son Gary Kuipers, son-in-law Kurtis Dykstra, and employee Jason Siebenga.)

At that time General Appliances expanded again to accommodate a wider selection of luxury appliances, and increased their service department to accommodate the needs of an expanding clientele.

Currently the General Appliances showroom is still located at 6010 Hwy 2A and a 10,000 Square Foot warehouse was recently built in Lacombe to accommodate more inventory.

The Service team consists of 3 of the best Service Technicians in Central Alberta (Lambert “Lumpy”, Rod and Sean) as well as our service Co-Ordinator Denise.

In Store operations are handled by Owners Kurtis and Gary with the help of Jamesand Danielle

The Delivery Department is operated by Owner Jason Siebenga. Jason runs one of the delivery trucks and looks after training each of our delivery men making sure that our entire delivery department is always acting in a professional manner and offering an industry leading level of service.
