Gammy Woods Family Camground

Stayed here in the summer for Weidman days. Nice clean campground with wonderful cabins. The Ice cream is AMAZING! Have camped here before and also have done the cabin and everything is well maintained. Added bonus that it is close town.

I'll start with the good. Nice showers and good activities for kids. The bad is the firewood situation, small sites, and basically dirt to pitch a tent on. There is little grass in the sites. The wood deal is the worst. I love having a fire going all day but here you can't. Wood is $10 a bundle for a tiny bundle of old pine. Can't cook with it and it burns up like a match. They say that it is "per the DNR" on the website but that is simply untrue. You cannot bring firewood from the lower peninsula to the UP but that is as far as the regulation goes. They just want to rip people off.

We've been camping at Gammy Woods for a number of years. Every year it continues to get better and better and the effort put in by all of the staff is excellent. It's a great location, it's friendly & fun, it's well kept/very clean and it would be hard to beat this as a camping experience. We have never been disappointed and our summer wouldn't be complete without a visit or two to Gammy Woods! It's awesome!!

Awful! Stayed a week end. Payed for a lot for my parents who like to come early (1:00) check in is 3. No one was on the site but they charged me for an extra day. REALLY? tried to talk to them about it but they wouldn't budge. Will not return.

Great place to be. Quiet atmosphere. A tad on the pricey side. Modern,clean, private bath house.
