Ive been at G.L. Roberts for three weeks and honestly its the best first impression ive had of any school, the friends are accepting after i thought i would never meet anyone better, and the teachers are one of the most decent and well-mannered ones ive met in education :
Although my last review wasn't the best, the school has areas to improve the staff are truly doing their best to improve the school and make the students feel welcome. Some areas that are amazing is the physical education department and the green house, but there are some places to improve such as the admin; if you get a detention they don't make sure that you are there to serve it.if your 25 minutes late you have to sit in the office all period and that's not helping us get the education that we need to graduate with. over all the school is a really nice place to be physically and has a caring environment. Thanks for reading
This school makes me have one eye open when i’m sleeping because it is in the south end and there is crazy people but those people DONT ATTEND THE SCHOOL i’ve been going there for 2 years and the worst i’ve seen people do is vape and one kid smoked a joint 2 feet away from the doors. not even that bad. The people here are swagalishious and i stan the drama teacher Ms.Hart <3 shes so amazing- much love/p to her Anywho great school and i thank god every day for going here #speakingfromtheheart
I went here from 2001-2006 & it was great. Everyone is friendly. Even the "jocks" are friendly. No one picks on anyone here. The Best Teachers I had are: Mr Kane, Mr Thompson, Mr Grainger, Ms Diamond, Mr Dunn & Ms McCormick. This school does have it's share of bad ones but other than that, great place.
At first coming to this school I was worried for my three children because everything I heard was bad about this school. But I was pleasantly pleased all the teachers and staff are helpful and friendly as well as the students. My kids are actually receiving a better education here than there old school Pineridge in Pickering.
I attended G.L. in 1998 and 1999, beginning 9th grade there, and attending for part of grade 10. The very 1st thing I noticed, is that the school is filled with bad apples, as it is located in south Shwa, which is a relatively rough end of town, filled with low income, single parent, welfare recipient families who's children are both unruly in many cases, rude, disruptive, low IQ or so it seemed for many of them and in some cases, violent. It made it hard to get a positive classroom experience as the teachers spent more time trying to quiet the class down, get the students attention, and deal with all the bad apples. The only reason I give the school a 2 star instead of a 1 star, is because there were actually "SOME" teachers there who cared Mr. Brady, Shirley Smith the VP at the time, and some others. Overall, I do not recommend moving to the south end of Shwa, nor do I recommend sending your children to G.L. based on my experience when I attended. I realize my experience is from 18-19 years ago, but as it is a place of education and has a certain level of importance, I felt it was the correct thing to do to share my experience and opinion on the school. Also, from what I understand, south Shwa hasn't changed overly much as far as the quality of families and citizens there, and so I assume the quality of the students is likely in line with when I attended in the late 90's.
Oh dear, I don't even know where to start. I left this school in 2012. the teachers were a joke with the exception of like 2. They refused to accommodate my legitimate legal disability and so dropped me down in my academic level because they couldn't be bothered and the head of special education actually was on board with it?!?!? It had actually affected my ability to be accepted to college but I guess that's foreign concept to them since 1 in 10 from there will sctuslly attend post secondary.
From what I have seen and heard when I went there for the parent meeting for introduction to future ninth graders, it looks like a decent school. If you put the work into it and don't wave your arms up like you are giving up, you can achieve a lot more than you think!
Is there anybody who used to be in a PLP classroom in GL Roberts before the some of you graduated from the 2010s decade and who is your PLP teacher from the 2010s decade? Write in the review whoever used to be in a PLP classroom in GL Roberts whoever graduated from the 2010s decade
Honestly gl is small but because of that you get more time and assistance with/from the amazing teachers
