Forest View Public School

Grandview is were friendships are made. We go there for school and its were we decided to make our club. its such a shame they closed it down this year so everyone had to transfer to Athabaca. our club was made based on the example grandview set. The staff were like family and were always so understanding. WE WILL MISS YOU GRANDVIEW!

My son has recently started attending Grandview for Gr. 1, after attending another school for JK/SK. We have found Grandview to be a delightful school with a real sense of community. The staff are very open to communication and are always willing to work with parents to ensure their child is getting the most from their education. We actually had to apply to move our son to Grandview after we moved because we were zoned for a different school, and his previous school was a nightmare with teachers so incompetent that he is the only one in his class now that never learned to write properly. My son has lots of personality and is not a dull, boring robot and he loves his new school. He has occasionally gotten in trouble for not listening in class, as have some of his classmates. However, children need discipline, or they end up becoming entitled little monsters whose parents think they are perfect and that everyone else is the problem. I'm glad Grandview believes in teaching respect and manners, and that they don't tolerate behaviourally challenged children disrupting everyone else's learning experience. If you are looking for a small, community minded school, then Grandview is an excellent choice.

I just moved to Oshawa and was forced to send my children to Grandview Public. Within the first week I knew this was a decision I was going to regret. The staff there are COMPLETELY INCOMPETENT. Instead of focusing on educating young minds, they are more interested in creating social and psychological problems when none exist. My child has attended nursery school and another public school for JK, however, once beginning studies at Grandview suddenly he became a "problem child". Never in all the years they were in the care of other capable professional educators has there been a complaint. Quite the contrary, instead I would arrive each day greeted with fun stories about how my children lit up the classroom and are a pleasure to teach. So smart they were at their previous school. What changed? Did my children suddenly transform into little tyrants? I DONT THINK SO!!! Teachers at Grandview Public have no patience for energetic kids. Instead its always... "use your walking feet and indoor voice!" Please! They are outdoors in the playground, when are they expected to play like normal children? If your children are boring, dull robots who have no personality then send them to Grandview Public School in Oshawa, they will fit right in! -Fed Up Parent-
