I must say I have try various sushi places in Vancouver but none come close to the fresh flavours of Fukasaku. Every entree has a delicious flavour that will leave wanting more. You must try the chefs special which must be ordered one day ahead so you can flavour a bit of everything. But trust me..It is worth the money, the trip and beautiful ocean view in Prince Rupert, BC
Ordered the Omasake or testing menu created by the chef. It was absolutely stunningly and artfully created. They were able to accomodate gluten free for this as well. It was a wonderful experience and we plan to visit Fukasaku again.
What a gem of a place. The best food, hands down, that we've had in Prince Rupert. I'm from Vancouver and this would rival the best Japanese food there easily. Insanely fresh, melt in your mouth fish. We had the sushi and sashimi platter and it was a wonderful mix of sushi rolls, sashimi and nigiri. We also had a vegetarian roll with cucumber, avocado topped with mushrooms and it was one of the highlights of the meal. I can't imagine anything here tasting anything but incredible. Great service even though there's only one server. The chef is Japanese and you can tell the attention and care he puts into every dish. Make reservations as it's small and they fill up my quickly. This is a must visit place if you're in Prince Rupert.
Loved, loved, loved this teeny place on the waterfront. I had the tasting menu. 24 hours notice is required for the chef’s special meal but my sampler was good enough, I wish we had another day so I could give the required notice. I would have gone a 2nd night. Husband had an assorted platter that he really enjoyed.
If you guys are in Prince Rupert and you love sashimi. You will also love all the great selection on the menu. This place is a must. You'll need a reservation. Everything on the menu is outrageous, exquisite. The highlight of my visit here so far. Omakase, 24 hour notice to enjoy this grand of a meal. And they have a store too!
Best sushi experience outside of Japan. Small, simple, next level freshness, quality and presentation. This place is famous amongst those that know it. If you need a reason to visit Prince Rupert, Fukasaku is it.
Went there last night. Quality never disappoints. However it is a little pricey but given the lack of food choices in Rupert, I come here every time I get into town. Owner is the chef, super nice guy. Interesting point I noticed last night: all their chairs and tables are made with wooden joints and dowels, no nails or screws
The Trio Salad is amazing! Follow that up with a steaming bowl of Ramen soup and enjoy the view. Read the reference on the menu about their home made wasabi. It made me grin. : The sushi is fresh and tasty. It's a simple, quiet restaurant. The waitress is very attentive and remembered us and my husband's soda preference on our second visit. It was refreshing and made us smile.
Good sushi place. Green tea ice cream superb. Sable fish oh so good and locally sourced ingredients.
Just had lunch here and it makes me sad that I’m in Prince Rupert only for one day The food, service, quality of ingredients are all amazing. More importantly they are all about sustainable fishing and serve locally sourced products. They are partners with Ocean Wise and that makes it all so much better. I would come back for dinner and will definitely come back next time I’m in town.
