Frontier
"Frontier has ultimately been a journey about building a community space. It is our sincere hope that after nearly two decades we’ve been able to demonstrate a care for and commitment to creating such a space, and with some blood, sweat, and tears, a dilapidated mill space can become a thriving community hub. And just as communities are always evolving, so too has this space. As we look ahead toward the next decade, it is time to hand over this community space to its next steward. Starting in October 2022, Frontier will be passing that torch, in its entirety, to Nomad www.nomadmaine.com."

A fun eatery in a concerted mill setting overlooking the dam and bridge. This place has fabulous cocktails! On this occasion, two from the specials list were as tasty as they sounded. Everybody enjoyed their entrees and the string fries as an appetizer. 4.8 stars. Reservations recommended.
I really wasn't impressed by this place. My cocktail was terrible it had many interesting sounding ingredients but all it tasted like was the beet vodka - maybe they killed it with generosity?. The pasta I ordered was a ridiculously huge portion size and really not very good. The pasta was at least three minutes overcooked, yuck. The appetizers weren't great either - the brussel sprouts were the best thing on the table, and at least the service was nice and sympathetic?
I was very excited to eat here based upon all of the amazing reviews. I have to say “underwhelmed” is the best thing I can say. While the atmosphere is great and the view beautiful the wait for food on a weeknight was excessive. When it finally did come it was good but not at the price and not for the wait. I wanted to really like it but my recommendation would be to focus on one thing and do it well vs. trying to do it all.
Inside an old Mill with amazing views of the dam and river this place is a great. The menu was varied and full of interesting things to try. The staff were all very nice. It's a great addition to the town and a hard place to pass up if you're in the area.
Excellent attention to food sourcing/Maine's agricultural bounty, comfy tables and benches as well as a bar for solo dining. Vegan nachos were top.
Food great! View spectacular. I love this place. Artisan foods. Something different than you'll find elsewhere. Reservations are nearly required now.
Visited The Frontier for a late Sunday evening dinner. I absolutely loved the atmosphere as repurposed mill space is always an excellent idea and adds to the unique quality of the establishment. Menu options were plentiful and it was awesome to see so many vegan options. Food was excellent and dessert options were varied and delicious. I must also add that the views were spectacular. It was so cool to look over a hydro dam while eating. Really excellent place to dine.
Frontier is a wonderfully unique restaurant located in a historic mill overlooking the a dam and the Androscoggin river as well as the beautiful old green bridge between Brunswick and Topsham with the Bowdoin mill behind it. Top tier entrées using creative, fresh, locally sourced ingredients make for a deep menu with many new seasonal meals throughout the year. The restaurant environment is a rustic, modern setting that is inviting and artistic. The small, cozy theater between the restaurant and the Cafe is always holding fun and informative events like film showings you won't see anywhere else and lectures on all manner of historic and social topics. Lastly, the recently added Cafe is a great place to relax and grab an amazing cup of Speckled Axe coffee. Many different varieties of espresso, pour-overs, tea, and more ensure something for everyone. Lactose free options of both soy and almond milk are available as well.
Very unique mixed drinks and a charming atmosphere. Food was delicious and had vegan options for my wife.
Amazing restaurant, one of the best in this area. Went here a number of times in college, great for date night, dinner with friends or parents, and they even have a room for larger groups. Foot is great, fish and chips, vegan nachos, burger, and the bolognese is the highlight. Drinks are good too. Service is consistently excellent and they've helped me with special requests before thank you Sean!.
