Love love love this restaurant. I've been here twice now and every time I'm in awe. All the dishes were very carefully prepared with lots of thought and heart. The chef freshly picks a most of his ingredients in the morning. The sourdough is to die for. I could eat it every meal of the day. The customer service is also 10/10 every time we come, the staff really make you feel special. There's also ample parking in the back. I would definitely recommend coming!
Outstanding experience. The menu we ate last night was the most complex and diverse we have had the chance to eat in the city. The dedication and commitment to the vision by the entire team at Frilu is truly something to celebrate. Beyond the fantastic flavours, the incredible textures and the great aesthetics, the story behind every ingredient elevates the already-unique experience even more. Finally, the wine and non-alcoholic pairings were as creative as they were cohesive. If you haven’t yet, make yourself a favour and get a booking as soon as you can.
Loved it. We had a seriously delicious dinner, perfectly paired wines and sake and a great server. There’s so much care taken in the preparation and plating. Really nice atmosphere as well. Will definitely be back! Thank you to the Frilu team.
I don’t have one bad thing to say about our experience at Frilu. My fiancé took me on a surprise dinner date and I was very pleasantly surprised! The food was DELICIOUS. We absolutely loved their homemade sourdough bread even asked if they had any left at the end of the meal to take home. All their dishes were so beautifully plated and filled with so much flavour. There was not one bad dish that was served. We both left extremely full and happy. The staff were all great and extremely friendly. I would recommend everyone to try this restaurant. We hope to go again someday when they change their menu to try more of their delicious food.
Excellent experience as you would expect from a fine dining restaurant. What I really love is you get to interact with the chef. Many ingredients are straight from their local farm to table. The most memorable dish was the duck and it has definitely stolen my number 1 spot for a duck dish Sorry Cafe Boulud. The server is very attentive and friendly and introduced us to some of the Sakes that are off the menu. Overall definitely one of the top restaurants in Toronto better than Alo IMO
We visited during dinner time for the chef’s tasting menu. Our first impression of the restaurant was very positive. The staff was very warm and welcoming and did their best to make you feel comfortable. Our course offerings for the night included a variety of tasty and playful dishes including a bacon fat take on an oreo, housemade sourdough, and fresh pasta among others. The experience was intimate and did not feel rushed at all. Every dish was wonderful and worked well cohesively. Highly recommended.
Amazing service and phenomenal food. Everything was very fresh and well executed. The staff were also amazing. Definitely worth it for the experience. Be ready to be there for ~3-3.5hrs for dinner. Will definitely go again when their next seasonal menu comes out.
Should be considered in the Top 100 Canadian Restaurants! Came here for my bday and without missing a beat, they offered my partner and I a free Rosé sparkling wine glass. The detail and ingredient from each serving was well thought of and presented with beauty. The owner used fresh produce from their own farm which makes it more special since it's locally sourced. I don't eat artichokes at all! And I can't understand how I could of eaten a 100 of them at Frilu. It just shows how each dish has a delicious and unique taste to each one of them. We normally have to go downtown to enjoy an intimate 10 course dinner and I'm overly happy to say that we have now found a locally date night experience.
had my first ever fine dining experience here, and have to say i wasn’t disappointed - there’s a lot of care put into every dish and you can really feel it bread/butter, salmon roe, scallop, sunchoke, pork, and desserts were fantastic. all the other courses were solidly great the lamb was a little bit of a miss for me but maybe i’m just not a lamb guy all the nonalcoholic drink pairings complemented their respective dishes perfectly service was excellent and friendly the price point was a little harrowing for someone who isn’t used to it ~$350 after tax and fees per person
I think it’s great to find a restaurant like this north of Steeles especially in old Thornhill. One criticism is that it’s exterior is very discreet. We’ve lived in the area for over 6 years and they’ve been open since 2018. The only reason why we know they exist is because a friend recommended them. Parking if a little hard to find and is accessed via a little alleyway to the side of the building. The interior is very simple and would not feel out of place in downtown Toronto. The floor to ceiling windows give you a strange feeling that you are out of place as you sit in this modern, chic restaurant looking out at the architecture of old Thornhill. On to the food, overall I would say the food is great. Some dishes definitely left a lasting impression; the spot prawn with fennel, the Ontario rainbow trout that melts in your mouth; the tarragon ice cream; and the most surprising of all for me was lettuce with coco bianco miso. The other dishes are good but certainly nothing to rave about. I love the use of local ingredients especially the vegetables. It’s the first time I’ve tried parsley root and I enjoyed it very much. The atmosphere is good and the service is fantastic. It’s solely a tasting menu and I wasn’t disappointed with the different flavours and dishes I was served. I would definitely come back and try the menu for a different season.
