I’ve tried many gelato before and I would recommend this one. Though the Honey and cheese is a little bit sweet for me, I still like it. If you like something light, I would recommend you try the wine and berries! I finish it in a few minutes. I just can’t resist the special flavor. Best of all, the price is reasonable here. —— This is my 3rd time to come, and I order cheese and honey with cookies, which is a great combination!
been coming here for the past year and the consistency of this place never fails to impress me. I was planning on taking a picture of my cone but got distracted and finished it all! they are very generous with the portions, as both the cones and cups of ice cream are huge ! the price is pretty typical for gelato. this time i got the seasonal flavor, coconut somoa, basically the girl scout cookie with a coconut base and it had the right balance of each flavor and it’s not too coconutty! some of my other favorites are cheese and honey, figs and cognac, and the chocolate. the staff is friendly and the inside is chill. my only complaint is samples cost money but that’s a very small gripe. honestly, you can’t go wrong here, this is our go to ice cream / gelato in evanston.
Absurdly expensive but very delicious. They sometimes give you humungous portions, so it somewhat evens out if you're willing to pay that much for ice cream. Although they allow you to get two flavors even in their smallest size, Frio Gelato is not a good place to do so. The last several times I've tried this they've given me a huge serving of one of my requested flavors with a little dollop of the other flavor, like an afterthought. Intensely frustrating and extremely disappointing, especially when the tiny amount is the flavor I was most looking forward to. I always just pay for my ice cream and don't complain when it happens, because I don't want to be "that customer". I'm just going to stop getting multiple flavors at Frio Gelato.
The Gelato is delicious! It's exciting to find a place that is safe for people with nut allergies and is also so good! Would highly recommend.

I had already tried this at Navy Pier. This is my favorite icecream shop in Chicago. I love that the flavors actually taste like what they are supposed to. It's not too sweet and over the top like other places and the consistency is just the right for me. They have really interesting flavors and they change them throughout the year. The waffle cones are also really good both vanilla and chocolate. The vegan options are actually really good as well. I'm happy to support fellow latinos, since the owners are from Argentina. Totally recommend it.
Got the tramontana in a waffle cone and it was phenomenal!
Lovely place with fabulous gelato. Very nice and helpfull young women working there. Also, 5 flavors of sorbet. I had strawberry and mint choc chip gelato since you could try two flavors even if ordering a small cup. My friend had peach sorbet. We went back another time because it was so good and fresh.
Super dulce de leche FTW. I don’t agree with charging 50c for sampling ice cream though, that’s a low move.
What's unique about Frio is that they have a huge variety of different flavors. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. I decided to go with a one scoop of coconut flavored gelato and it was absolutely amazing. The portions were also very large too! The dining hall was also very bright and clean. I think this is one of my new favorite places to get gelato. Definitely go here.
