Dr. Mercado was "highly" recommended by a family member. However I had a pretty bad experience in July. He saw that I was not walking straight and had poor balance. He failed to tell me to go to the ER, just kept telling me my blood pressure was high. He seemed distracted that day when I saw him and his office was busy. I left his office unable to walk properly and as I was leaving he asked "Are you going to be ok?" Um I don't know! Isn't he the expert? Fast forward 2 weeks, I happened to accompany my mom to her M.D. appt (Dr. Boatwright @ Rush in Chicago). My mom mentioned my symptoms to her doctor and she was nice enough to talk to me and check my vitals. She was the only medical professional who took my symptoms seriously (headaches, falls, dizziness, numbness in my left leg). And she urged me to go to the ER that same day. Thank God I listened to Dr. Boatwright because I ended up having a brain infection. Obviously I'm not blaming Dr. Mercado for my brain infection because that was out of his hands but he is partly to blame for the delay in my treatment.
As for Dr. Mercado's staff, sometimes I have good experiences and sometimes my experience is "eh." Some of the staff just don't seem to care at times. I'm sure they are tired of me calling his office because he is still coordinating my care and I need several referrals for different specialists. Once I'm done with my treatment for the infection, I definitely will be changing doctors and I will not be recommending him to anyone. I understand my situation was extreme but I suggest researching any doctor before going to see them and firing them if needed.

Horrible service, can't even make an appointment ,the staff there need more training at least to try to be polite when they answer the phone.
