Four Winds Motel

Don't hesitate to stop and lay your head down here. Real respite as opposed to the faux sort at the chain establishments. A fine mule next door, a corn field to gaze on in the summer, and clean well-maintained rooms, even if "vintage". Watch "Bridges of Madison County" if you can't take the pleasures of life on the road and slumbering in a true motel ("a roadside hotel designed for motorists, typically having the rooms arranged in a low building with parking directly outside your room").

I've stayed here on multiple occasions there's always the best service it's clean and cozy

Clean, Clean, Clean good experience. Owners very nice. Half the price of the chain motel. Will come back again.

Before heading Grinnell we called Four Winds Motel and asked if we could reserve a room for the night. The desk clerk we had spoke with assured us that there would be a room and it would be fine if we came in late at night. We had car troubles and had to walk there. When we arrived the owner yelled at us to leave or he would call the cops. We explained our car situation and that we asked for a room earlier. He stated again that if we didn't leave the cops would be called. We walked up the drive way and were looking up cab companies on our phones to Days Inn. (every cab closes at midnight) The owner came out and said they called the cops and we needed to leave. We told him that we were trying to get a cab so we could leave. He wouldn't listen he just kept saying he would have us arrested if we didn't leave right away. Days Inn gave us a discount and a extra night when they heard our story. Go to Days Inn, they wont yell at you.
