Fortune City seafood is always a reliable Cantonese restaurant. We’ve been frequenting them for many years, whether it’s for dim sum, lunch, dinner or delivery, they’re always fast, fresh and reasonable. Some of our favourite dishes includes their salt and pepper pork chops, their sautee shrimp with egg, ginger green onion beef hot pot, house special steam chicken, house special chow mien and so much more. It’s hard to avoid Chinese restaurants using MSG, and I think they do a good balance of it. While I have nothing against MSG, I find some restaurants over use it to hide the inferior quality of their ingredients. Not the case with fortune city seafood. Service is very typical of Chinese restaurants, you have to get a server’s attention if you want anything, but they do make the effort to provide special touches. One time we ordered way too many dishes and our table was cramped, after requesting for a bigger table, they helped us shift all our cutlery and dishes over. They will also ask if you would like the curtains down in the evening when the sun can be in your eyes. They also started doing discounted dishes for take out during COVID. They are now $18/dish, and they’re great when you don’t want to make dinner but still have a family to feed. Or if you want o just add a few extra dishes to your meal. Overall a great place to go for Chinese food and we’ve been enjoying our experience so far!
Ate dinner here with my parents. The food was delicious with generous portions. Everything was well made and not too greasy. We ordered Chicken Chow Mein, Stir-fry Cod with Gai Lan, Beef Tenderloin with Black Pepper Sauce, Honey Garlic Spareribs, Deep Fried Squid. The service is good too. Definitely going back to try the rest of the menu.
Service was very friendly. The staff greeted us warmly and seated us. Tea was served within a few minutes. We ordered several items and within 10 minutes all the dishes arrived. Perfectly cooked and delicious. We got 20% off most dimsum items for ordering before 11am on a weekday. Tea was 90c per person. If you order $10 worth of food, you could order select items for a discounted price. After 1:30pm, there is different deal with other selections. There's parking on the street and also the lot.
I haven't had authentic Cantonese food for quite a while until some elders in the family celebrating their birthdays. This restaurant eased my itch for that childhood favorite taste. All the seafood and dishes are so good. Except the cold plate was too spicy. The service was warm and attentive. We sat in a blocked off area that we don't get bothered by other guests. Young kids were running around be within a safe proximity so that adults can enjoy food and chats on their own.
Excellent place to have dinner in Vancouver. Delicious Cantonese cuisine. We ordered free-range chicken Guifei style with Hainan chicken sauce. One of the best in quality and flavor. Creamy Lobster and noodle was cooked perfectly. Will come back for sure. Highly recommend!
Only have tried the dimsum here. Prices are low compared to other places. Quality is not bad for the price point Steamed prawn puree with fish maw - prawn was big and tasty. Fish maw was not good. Not spongy but chewy. Deep fried bean curd roll - delicious! The worcestershire sauce is diluted though. Rice roll with chinese donut - small dish. The chinese donut feels old or refried. For this price I would come again to try other dishes.
My family chose this restaurant to host their staff Christmas party here a few nights ago and it was absolutely outstanding. We are accustomed to good Chinese food and this exceeded my expectations on every level. Every dish was delicious and fresh tasting. My favourites were the lobster and the scallop fried rice. My mom kept saying, "Wow, look at Kim, I can tell she's really enjoying this food!!" Yep, I ate a lot that night lol. We ordered the set menu, I think it was 10 courses or something crazy like that. Service was fabulous, which is rare for a Chinese restaurant! Servers were quick, attentive, and friendly. . I've recommended this restaurant to all my friends.
FOOD WAS GREAT. SERVICE WAS TOP NOTCH AWESOME. BEERS WERE DECENTLY PRICED. ONLY COMPLAINT I HAVE, IS THAT I KEPT ASKING FOR SALT, BUT IT KEPT GETTING FORGOTTEN. WAS I WRONG TO ASK FOR SALT AT A CHINESE RESTAURANT? WHITE PEPPER THEY HAD, BUT A LIL BIT OF SALT WOULD'VE BEEN NICE TOO. .
If you're in the area, this is a very good dimsum option, they have a lot of space and a very good selection of dimsum and Chinese dishes. We went here for dimsum and was pleasantly surprised that we could order fresh steamed scallops with vermicelli noodles. Prices are very reasonable. Will definitely come back to try their dinner menu.
One of my favorite go-to restaurants for family style dinners! Extensive menu for a la carte or prixe fix 6 people or more and the dingy atmosphere makes it most authentic the "aquarium", the stashes of chairs and wooden table tops. Reminds me of Family dinners when I was a kid!Food: 5/5
