I have been to flat top Grill so many times and it remains a favorite even after all the restaurants I’ve been to. It’s a great place to take family and friends to because it’s a build your own and then they cook it for you and all the ingredients are absolutely incredible and delicious. this is a place I have taken my friends and family to and always recommend! Plus they have AMAZING dessert no I am not 51 years old
Most people who come here opt for the build your own bowl. The choice of vegetables is amazing. There is also plenty of vegan meat options. What I did not like, however, is that when they bring out the slip to your table asking for your choice of protein there is no vegan option there. Which means as a vegan if you want any protein you don’t have a choice but to add it to your bowl which takes up space, leaving you with less space for other items. I was a little upset about that. Whereas if you ate chicken/beef and whatever other kinds of meat, you can just say that on the slip and it’ll get added to your bowl in addition to whatever else you pick. Also, the price is not any less for vegans/vegetarians. I wish that would change that. I have seen people load of their bowls to the maximum extent and that’s the best way to go about it. Stuff as much as you possibly can in the bowls. And then hand it over to the staff who will cook the contents of your bowl and serve it to you.
5+2 Eclectic and interesting establishment. The combination of Korean and Japanese style was quite enjoyable. I had the spicy steak bowl, also the beef skewers. Both delicious! Their sangria was extremely well made. Had a little kick to it, not weak. Next time I go back, I'm going to bring my beautiful wife! Also, I would have to add that My server was named Jordan, she is really an energetic and enthusiastic individual, a very enjoyable experience. Vegetarian options: Yes Kid-friendliness: Yes Wheelchair accessibility: Yes Dietary restrictions: Ask!
Sadly we have not been here since pre-covid days. Before that we came here a decent amount when we had some free time away from the kids. Surprisingly it was not busy tonight when we stopped in. Anna was our server and I will say that she did a great job all around! The options to build your own bowl are great and the food was solid. The pricing has gotten pretty high from what we were used to and again most things are inflated, but probably could use some adjustments. We enjoyed it and will be back when in the area.
Another "not my first time here, but first Google Review" for this place! Have been coming to this spot since the 2000s, definitely for the Student Discounts, and glad they have stuck around until now. Create Your Own Bowl has changed up the past few years, mostly due to COVID-19 and I am sure because of sanitation reasons. For example, something as fun and unique as writing your own name on the bowl stick seems to be now in the control of the Waiter; From the buffet, uncooked meats have been removed and you order up to three 3 meats with your Waiter; You would also be able to order Flat Top Grill's absolutely delicious Roti Bread with the Server unsure how many you can order per bowl; Sample tasting cups for the various sauces have also been removed but available upon request; Many "colored sticks" have also been removed at the end. They also offer made-to-order dishes if you are not feeling creative! The restaurant itself can use some TLC, but for minor things. During my recent visit, one of the Waiters accidentally served my Bowl to another party and because of that, I would need to re-do my meal, of course, free of charge and it was nice to know they follow good sanitary rules. Overall, the dining experience to be hands-on and create your own meal is fun. I do not think I have ever created something inedible but I have seen the staff be accommodating and offer at least one new bowl to diners. Will definitely be back!
Haven't been to one of these in a long time, and the prices went up. The bread is the best part. Don't like how you have to pay for it. I understand if you want extras, but it should come with one for each bowl you get. That's how it used to be. Also, I wish there was a way to taste the sauces. Some of us aren't cooking experts, and it would be nice to know how they taste before we add them to our dish.
Always great service and food at FTG. I always go when it is lunch hours for the build your own bowl. 11am-2pm is 12.99 after is 16.99 so it Saves you 3 bucks
Popped in for a quick, late night dinner. As good as usual, safety precautions in effect for current lockdown restrictions were being adhered to. Not too much of an inconvenience, staff was professional and efficient. Always fun experimenting with different combinations of ingredients, Even though we were there late almost closing time, did not feel rushed at all and quality of food was outstanding. Overall a very enjoyable experience.
Great place for singles, dates, or groups. Good place for vegans / vegetarians, and people with allergies. Make your own bowl! Appetizers are light and tasty.
One of my favorite restaurants in the neighborhood. I love that I can cater to my dietary restrictions without feeling like I'm inconveniencing anyone. I'm vegetarian, my sister is vegan, and the rest of our family are not, and everyone in the family can easily have a fantastic meal here. Vegetarian options: The build your own option is fantastic for vegetarians or vegans. Lots of great veggies to choose from. Wheelchair accessibility: It's an old building, so there are stairs, but they've put in a wheelchair lift, which I really respect. I haven't visited with a wheelchair user yet, but it seems fully wheelchair accessible from what I can see. Dietary restrictions: There's an option to tell them you have dietary restrictions and need your meal cooked on a different grill.
