"The Best Turkish Restaurant & Steakhouse 2021/2022/2023 / @topchoiceawards At Flame, we serve ancient recipes from a contemporary kitchen with some of our own designs. Think lamb neck with prunes on Flame+ design marble plates, grilled sweetbreads drizzled on gravel-stone with clementine and microgreens, 48 hour lamb shank slow cooked with almonds and currants with lamb jus&brandy cocktail. We try to create a table of peace in time travel. The restaurant and grill is on the main floor, and we serve Turkish coffee plus free wifi all day on the 2nd floor where we also organize private events and parties. We also have a beautiful rooftop patio. We chose the Bloor West Village because it reminds us of home, and we love our adopted neighbour"

This place literally reminded me of my visit to Istanbul. The atmosphere is amazing and the staff are beyond any praise. Everything was absolutely delicious. Everyone was so attentive. I hated arugula before I tried their arugula salad. No bitterness at all, amazing flavour. And the baklava with custard that has black pepper in it blew my mind away. Scores 100 out of 100 in hospitality, ingenuity and flavour.
The most beautiful warm sweet place, the owners are such warm welcoming and joyous people, their food is done with great attention to nuance and presented beautifully, each dish described as presented, with the story of where it came from. The meats we had were served with fruits and it was so delicious. The design of the place is effortless yet tasteful and playful - exactly what you need to relax. With great attention to detail like dishes napkins and furniture, right away you see the owners’ artistic eye behind the set up, and the wall murals are in progress. Everything they do, they do with care. The atmosphere was truly precious, fun and cozy, when you come you feel at home and I’m sure I’m not the only one to feel this way. When you come, the warms of the place reminded me of that natural sweet warmth of a log cabin heated with a fireplace. They have beautiful upstairs patio for summer, but the inside is so beautiful that I don’t feel like I missed out I came in the autumn Thank you so much for an amazing wonderful magical evening! Will come here from all the way in north York, because it’s worth the trip and infinitely more
Overall a good experience. We came here to try the summerlicious menu. This restaurant does not have online booking, so we had to call to reserve a table. The service was good initially, but as we saw the patio get filled up the servers were running non-stop moving plates up and down the stairs, and it took a while to get our food. We have never had Turkish cuisine but found the taste to be unique and delicious, with portions so generous that we had to take some of it home. We had fried eggplant mad apple, fried seafood ball in a curry-like sauce atlantis, and the main dishes were lamb and beef, each with the same vegetable accompaniments. The grilled meats were excellent, juicy enough but also with a nice smoky flavour. This is a place I would go again even when it's regular price.
This is a MUST visit place! The owner and chef is so gracious with his sharing of the history behind the dishes and encouragement to enjoy the company and food. Staff are super attentive and food presentation and flavour is amazing. Mezzes and mains, lots of lamb, seafood, steak, chicken and vegetarian options Try the Turkish raki cocktails if you like anise.....amazing Lots of gluten free and dietary options....so accommodating for those with allergies. So worth the visit and now on my top list for restaurants in Toronto Dietary restrictions: Patiently responds to all dietary questions...attentive to special needs and provision of dishes to suit.
What a wonderful experience. As the owner explained, this isn't a restaurant but a place of happiness. He explained all the dishes' origins, carefully made presentable cocktails, and treated us with care. Everything tasted amazing!
This is the dining experience you’ve been looking for!! It certainly was for me, my only mistake is meeting one friend here for a catch-up chat….we needed MORE people to sample more of the menu! I’m a Toronto born south-Asian who knows very little about Turkish food but I asked a local foodie friend where to go and he told me this is the spot. 3 things made this a 10/10 for me and I’m a frequent business traveler for work so it’s rare a restaurant really knocks me off my feet like this: 1 Straight-up, the food is outstanding. It’s from different regions of Turkey so ask your server questions about it, do not be embarrassed. This is a family business and they are proud to share and guide you through to have a great experience. I love steak and the charcoal fire method here brought us Lamb so tender, succulent and delicious we already planned what we will eat on our next visit with more friends 2 The decor, atmosphere and vibe are a rich experience in an area falling prey to mediocre chain after chain after chain. I even stayed after my guest left to just explore some of the unique decor and soak it in. That ceiling! 3 When I sat down the owner introduced themselves and as it was my first visit, shared their vision, how to enjoy my visit by being bold with food choices and honestly the man spoke to me like family. Warm, caring for my enjoyment of his food and although it’s a little more pricey then the chains next door, the food + experience was perhaps underpriced. I hate that my pictures just can’t do the place, decor and food justice. Was there for a meeting with a friend and I don’t like to take too many pictures when I’m with people but wow, the plating and even the cutlery were of such thoughtful design, I can see them in my mind still, hours later. Hidden gem, loved their bigger tables for groups and families…the joy, the culture the clear care for every detail. Will see them again soon, highly recommend. Tip: It’s steps from Transit and there is a safe/cheaper Green P city parking lot across the street saving you from sketchy impossible parking on Bloor across from the TTC station. Perfect location. Best to call for reservations, they don’t have a great website but it’s legit.
The appetizers were amazing and the plates were extremely pretty, mostly the Atlantic. The main plate was the lamb ribs and it was extremely fatty, it was mostly fat which we told the owner about and they said that it is the authentic way to make the meal and the sides were cold. But I’ve had lamb at many places and it doesn’t taste like that to be honest. Overall, it was a good experience. Amazing hospitality. : the only issue was the main course.
Amazing service and food! There is live music on Saturday which really made the atmosphere spectacular! The lamb sirloin cubes was so delicious, I will come back for that as well as the amazing mezes.
If you get a chance to go out for only one supper in Toronto, this is the place I would recommend you to visit, as the atmosphere, the food, the presentation, the owners and the service speak to all 6 senses and aim for total satisfaction and overall happiness. Consider this place not a restaurant, but a food exhibition where you get to experience the pieces on display.
Fantastic from start to finish! Seated promptly with a reservation, greeted at the table by the chef owner? who explained the ingredients are all fresh. He assured us if we weren’t satisfied for ANY reason, he’d prepare something else for us. Appetizers and meal were fantastic! My girlfriend is vegetarian and there was no shortage of options. The presentation was fantastic, in beautiful unique dishes. I’d never tried Turkish cuisine before, and there were a lot of local Turks dining there. That must say something? We didn’t have dessert, but they looked fantastic as well. Will definitely come again.
